Manuovering in city traffic with 3.00 x 18 will be a big pain, one shouldn't upsize the front tyre, its better to maintain stock size.

    • Is the r15 rear tire (zapper-s) a direct fit on the rtr? If not..is the zapper-c (something similar to the p200 but in the stock size of the rtr) a viable choice?

      • RTR rear mag size is 18 inch....R15/Pulsar's rear mag size is 17 inch.....so it wont fit!

        • @onlinesatish: what do you recommend for the rear then? Cause the stock tvs tires are a waste .

          • nope...TVS tyre on RTR is pretty good for burnouts.....takes a very long time for them to wear out

Frankly speaking even am confused abt which tyre to go for the rear.

            options in my mind

            1. Dunlop geo curiser
            2. Dunlop monster
            3. M45
            4. Mrf Zapper Q or Zapper Y
            5. Perelli (if available)
            6. IRC
            7. Screw the plan and get it replaced under warrenty

            • Lol well i could use it for that . I have no idea bout the tires as well..somewhere back in this thread someone mentioned that he saw bridgestones on a bike. So i guess that could be an option. Calling in the warrenty sounds interesting and it had crossed my mind as well. I want the tire to at least be of tubeless type though.

              • u would'nt get a tyre under warrenty unless there is some manufacturing fault in the tyre.....mine has woobling issue's. i can get it replaced if i put pressure on the tvs tyre office here.....but anyways i'll be getting the same tyre so i thought why no buy a new tyre instead.

                BTW bridgestones available for bikes???

i have just started using it,(along with zapper FV for front) & they are as good as Pirelli SD's (on a HH Karizma)

                      • I am running with Zapper Q 100/90x18 in my apache 150. It is very good .. Costs only 1300/-.. Previously i was running with M45 4.00x18.. It has got excellent grip but it was very heavy, used it for 20k kms, It will reduce bike's flickability.. now changed to zapper q..

I am thinking of fitting imported tyres onto my p180dtsi
BUT I ABSOLUTELY AM AGAINST DOING ANY STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS TO THE BIKE, LIKE TO THE RIMS SWING ARM ETC.

So plz tell me which is the max sized tyre I can fit, keeping the same rim on my p180dtsi, where can I do this (in mumbai), and the cost of the tyres.

I read Hatari's discussion on how the engine is loaded when tire size is reduced.
I dont wanna put any extra load on the engine whatsoever.
Will my engine stay fine, as I am keeping the diameter constant (rim is the same) , or will it be loaded even because of a fatness increase. If this is so, I will drop the whole idea.

What are the pros and cons of the following two types of tyres: those which have a "spiky" grip, like in dirtbikes and "bald" tyres like those in SBKs.

Regarding the front tyre, I ofcourse am not gonna upsize it coz that will make handling heavier, but what abt same sized tyre with better grip?

and lastly, just for information sake, I read on this site that if u fit a smaller tyre, u gotta do resprokecting to compensate for the loss of speed at a particular RPM, in order not to load the engine. so can anyone plz calculate and tell me, if somebody has fitted an elim rim on the rear, how many teeth should each of his sprokets have, in order that the engine is not loaded at all, and the speed at a given RPM does not decrease??? Thanxalot...
I have been using Maxxis Baracuda tyres for the last 5 years on my Karizma and run 24000 Kms. So far they are fine and perform well in city traffic conditions incl. wet & dry. The rear tyre size is 120 / 80 - 18 and Front is 100 / 80 - 18. No modifications required.

                            • What happens if I change the stock Unicorn tyres which are 100/90-18 to 100/90-17? By change, I mean changing the rims as well to 17" from CBF Stunner. And I mean changing both front and rear to 17".

I know that the gear ratios may not suit. Is there a way to correct/modify that? Apart from that, is there anything else that might happen? I know i'll lose warranty, but I'm speaking from a technical point of view.
