  • Re: Tyres

    Hello people
I have a pulsar 150 classic, both my wheels are 18 inch spoke ones
I wanted to knw the following:-
    1) I have spoke wheels so can I chane the rim and spokes to 17 inch and retain the hub (rear only)? If yes then which bikes rims?
    2) if the rim swap is successful then can I put the r15 v1s rear tyre or a 110/17 inch soft compound tyre? If so then how and which tube shuould be put in them(they are tubeless and I have spoke rims)?
    3) is my choice correct to go with smoother, less groved soft compound tyres? I love cornering and ride only in the city with good roads. Will they be any good in the wet?

Ps:- im choosing 17 for the rear because morentyres are available in softer compounds.

Suggest the tire model's if you know too.
      Hello brother,
      I have a friend using a p200ns,
I would advice you to refrain from upsizing.
Mrf manufacturers specific tyres for the r15 v2
The front is a 90 and the rear is a 130 mrf revs very good rear tyre option.
For the front tryto get a hold of mrf revs 100/90 or try a michelin 100/90
      Hope this helps.

Pilot sporty I think is a crap tyre. Fishtails a lot over speed.
Continental tyres are usually medium compund so they are nice!

Ps:- tvs is now the manufacturing partner of Michelin :banghead: nd im going to stay away from Michelin too.

Are you sure on the sizing??? 100/90(i suppose) 18 for m45 . AFAIK the thai make had a 100% aspect ratio sizing(eg. 3.5-18 or 4.00-18).

Even I am having doubts now.
It says michelin m45 in swooping letters
Manufactured by michelin usa & cannada.
There are no other marks or isi marks that I think m45 had or didnt, hut the other tyres he had all had isi marks.
It had a blue sticker on the face of the tyre.
There is a small branding with size 100/90/18 (tt) written along with a small hollow arrow that says 'rear tyre' on it
                      Is it a genuine tyre?
                      The compound is soft
I will go to the dealer with the same today itself

You sure about what you got ? In your earlier post you said the tyre was "Made in thailand" and now you say its "Manufactured in USA and Canada". The older M45 had Made in thailand on them and not USA/Canada(To the best of my memory). If its thai make, it will not have ISI mark on it. To avoid confusion why don't you post a pic of the tyre.

Please note I wrote "made in thailand"
And "manufactured by michelin usa and cannada"
The first statement denotes manufacturing location
The second statement denotes the company origin or name I suppose. Both were written on them.
Also do note all michelin tyres have coded numbers usa and cannada written on them, from what I saw there 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers
There is a diffrence I suppose in both of the above.
Also note I made a visit to the dealer who is also now a friend and have exchanged the tire since I had my doubts too.
Have sorced a different tyre now and very happy with it. The exchanged item is a sirac street m/c happy with it. Still my search for m45s and m35s will continue.
Kolkata had sudden rains yesterday and performance was very nice.
Also I would lie to say that michelin india though manufactured by tvs are still far better than tvs tyres. Happy to be proven wrong on that note, but yes they are not there former selves.
                          Hope all issues are cleared
If any more help is required with the same I shall be here to pester every xbhp member

Please referto my above statement to clear doubts
And I had written manufactured by michelin usa & cannada
                            And made in thailand.
                            Difference noted.
If what I wrote was confusing then my bad.
                            Please read carefully.

I believe you have alloys and 17 inch rims
I will suggest go for any 110/17 tyres since they will be the perfect fit on your bike,
For the front go for the 90/ 17 mrf revs (r15 v2 front tyre) it is a soft compound tyre.
And for the rear go for (irc 110/17, mrf r15 v1 rear tyre, the dazzlers rear tyre)
All these are soft compound tyres... wont last you too long.. but you have irc's currently....why not get the same wasa wrong with them?
