      • Off-Road Tyres For CBR 250R - Kudajadri Trip

        Hey Guys ,

I am from Kochi .Me and my friends are planning a trip to Kudajadri,Kollur and have been preparing for some time now for the same . The trip mostly involves about 1100kms of Highway and the rest 100kms will be hard offroad trail , climbing the Kudajadri Hills and back(I have done the same trip 2 years back with the same bikes and couldnt climb the hills due to lack of grip from the Continentals . The trails are conquered by jeeps with offroad tyres and 4wd everyday though ). Me myself (on CBR250r) and my friends Arun(CBR 250r0 and Vishnu (RE DEsert Storm500) will be there for the trip . My bike is 49k kms old cbr 250 . The front tyre was the Continental and the rear is currently MRF Revz C 150-60-r17 . The front is completely worn out and I have to replace it ASAP . Also it is monsoon season ,, and the MRF at the rear is struggling for Grip .. So I decided to replace the front and rear together , store the MRF for the summer and buy dual purpose tyres for the trip and the monsoon.

Since there will be a lot of slush and dirt involved in the kudajadri trip , i searched for suitable tyres which can handle considerable offroad terrain . I found from another thread ( a guy who went to Leh on his Duke 390 ) about Ceat Vertigo 120-80-17 rear tyre and 100-80-r17 front tyre used on the Duke 390 (With a little modifications on the front Mudguard to fit the Tyre). I am sure that both these tyres fit the rims of my CBR , But i am unable to find the Vertigo 120-80-17 tyre anywhere in kochi . I found out that vertigo 120 size has been phased out . I still kept searching for suitable tyres and came across two heavily treaded tyres in a shop . These were Ralco/Ralson tyres . One was Ralco Blaster 120/80/17 and the other was Ralco Blaster 110/80/17 . But i found out recently that the tyres on the new RE Himalayan , size being 120/90/17 would also fit the rims of my bike . Now I am in a dilemma

        Suggested Tyres
        Ceat Vertigo 120-80-17
        Ceat Vertigo 100-90-17
        Ralco Blaster 120-80-17
        Ralco Blaster 110-80-17
TVS Pancer 120-80-17(Another Tyre I found)
        Birla Firemaxx r45 120-80-17(YEt another one )

0)Which one of these should i go with??Click image for larger version

1)If i go for Ralco 110/80/17Font ,Will i have to modify the front mudguard mounts to accomodate the taller tyre ??(This is really important)
2)Will the Ceat Gripp 120/90/17 tyre of the Himalayan fit my bike without any issues ??(If i get my hands on one ,Else it is gonna be Ralco)
3)Are there any other offroad tyres available for the CBR 250R ??

Guys I need suggestion for my Fazer, which tyre should I get.

Currently I have Michellin Pilot Sporty, which is almost new but having plenty of bad experiences in wet condition, I have decided to change them. Both front and rear. If anyone reading this please do not buy Michellin Pilot Sporty !! Those tyres are dangerous pls stay away from them !!

I just wanted to know how are Pirelli Sport Demon in dry and wet grip, or any other brand. I have heard good reviews about ceat tyres too. I am looking at an upsize for rear, 140-70 R17.

or Should I go with REVZ Y?

Is Tubeless Tyre available for the front tyre size 2.75-18 (Zma R front tyre) in medium or hard compound ? I strictly want to stick to the stock size but with a Tubeless variant.

Ceat zoom series is useless, hard rubber compound tyre , like Michelin pilot sporty series.
Vertigo was good , but ceat stopped its production.
Mrf Zapper s1 (honda hornet rear) is good . Avoid zapper Q series .

90/90 18 is slightly oversized but fits properly. If u want exact same size then 80/100 is also there. U will easily get tubeless in these sizes.

But 80/100 is slightly broader as 2.75 translates as 70/100,thus may affect the ride feel and i dont want that. So a tubeless tyre of specific size 2.75-18 available in mrf or any other brand ? a medium or hard compound one.

I am using Michelin Pilot Sporty on the rear too. It tends to fish tail a lot, even on the slightest hint on wetness. But the dry grip is good though.

                    I m zeroed on mrf zapper s1 140/70 17(honda hornet ₹3500) & revz s 130/70 R17(R15 v2 ₹2900) for my ns200 . Current tyre has a lot of punctures so changing it .

My question is which one should i buy ?
How much life should i expect from a radial tyre ?

Any reviews about revz s ? Is it puncture prone ?

Go for revz s because 130/70 is the stock size for ns200

Using revz s1 will decrease acceleration n height will increase by 7mm

                          .
I thought zoom series was medium compound.(If you consider shorter range of tyre selection widely available for Indian bikes).I mean for me tvs is hard.( So what will you call those type of tyres ? )
and also I want to know why zapper Q is to be avoided. Please share if you know about any incidents.

I personally used the zoom xl on p220 . When new it was too good but as u clock some kms(in my case after 3000km use) it performed totally different , under normal breaking rear tend to get locked in dry condition.
Zapper Q is hard compound tyre , i think Q =quantity that is more kms life . Revz is radial , zapper c is good. Make your choice.
