"Button" type I'm very wary about now. As I had mentioned earlier, the Dunlop Challenger 101 seemed a bit "bouncy". Can't be sure... but seemed to have a higher rolling resistance too. Not good on good roads and highways. Pretty good on bad roads/gravel though. The pattern in the pic you have posted seems quite suitable.

yes and since the tyre has two parallel running groves which means greater water dissipation, hence less chances of aquaplaning.Had ridden extensively in monsoon ,found the grip satisfactory

                        • ^^^Sounds good!

Visited 2 more tyre dealers today. I was considering the Dunlop Zebra (front tyre), which has a pattern similar to the MRF Zapper FS (that comes OEM on many bikes like CBZ-X, etc). But the guys at the dealership emphatically told me not to go for it for a bike without disc brakes (Shogun)! They say it wont grip, etc! Further probing did not bring any satisfactory reply. I can't imagine what the tyre pattern has to do with disc/drum brakes. Does anybody know better? Is anybody using this pattern on bikes without disc brakes?

                          • Raccoon, you'll be hard pressed to find a tyre better than a MRF Zapper FS front. This tyre may be common, but it performs admirably across a wide range of surfaces. There's also the Zapper FV to consider. Check rearset's blog for a review of the FV.

This goes double if you're upgrading from TVS tyres. There's literally a zameen-aasman ka difference.

For the rear, I'd suggest a tyre suited to your riding conditions. If on smooth tarmac, then the Zapper Q. If on a combination of tarmac/dirt/slush, then the Michelin M45 or it's poorer cousin, the Dunlop Monster.

End of the day - there's no perfect tyre. It depends too much on the riding conditions and your riding style/skill. More so where we have a rather limited, mostly commuter style choice of tyres available, when it comes to upgrades.

My TVS Fiero F2 front tyre is almost bald!
Please help me in finding the right tyre with good grip in dry as well as wet condition. Thanks.

                              UPDATE:
After doing research i put MRF Zapper FS for front, now after around 5 months or so, i bike skids like crazy. The thread on front tyre is still as new but it skids like crazy dog even on slight bend and i'm hell afraid to do even a slight bend. This tyre is worst than the original TVS tyre i had before. My sincere advice is to NOT buy this tyre in any circumstances!

what are your tyre specs? 2.75x18? I have gone for Zapper FS 90/90 17 for my rtr fi and its just bloody brilliant. Loads of confidence and does not give way even under extreme braking.

I have a doubt its not your tyre which is causing the problem.
