    Guys, I need your help/ advise on new tyres F+R for my P180 .... Requirements:-->

    Bike: P180 UG3 '07 model w/ stock tyres ... Front: 2.75 - 17 ... Rear: 100/90 x17.

    1. 17 inches both,

    2. Overall Profile should be a bit smaller than stock ... but not too small. Tyre height should be less, as I want to decrease gearing, say 80mm will do for rear.

    3. should be grippy, preferably a SOFTER compound than my stock ones,

    4. Use: usually dry roads, leaning a bit... Tyre Life doesn't matter much. 12k+ is fine...

    5. should be available in Ajmer ...

    6. Tubeless preferred a bit, if available.


    In short - performance tyres! R15 tyres match my needs perfectly, but the dealer says he can't sell them to other bike's owners ...

    Please suggest guys ...

      Samarth, R-15 tyres are available in the market here in Hyderabad (outside showrooms).

      Lower profile tyres you get in IRC. I do not think in Ajmer, they are available.

      My advice is just try to source R-15 tyres. Check in outside market, somewhere they should be available. Also try MRF showrooms. If not, try bribing the Yamaha guys.

        Samarth, speak to a MRF distributor in and around Ajmer and order fro R15 tyres. Else may be you should catch hold of an R15 owner at your place.

              @samarth
              one morething u can do is install fz-16's rear rim..a wider rim will give u much better low profile then low aspect-ratio tyre.. that will do nothing but taking a round shape upon inflating as rim is only 2.5"..
              it may on expensive side but will be future proof.

                I guess P180 cannot take FZ-16 rim.

                    But does the r15 tyres cause any damage to the rims if we hit a pothole??
                    And the ride hight will be decreased so thats good rite ???

                      R15 has lightweight rims. They won't crack if you hit a pothole at low speeds-I've hit many at around 75 too. It happens only at very high speeds&impact, not just for R15 but for other bikes as well.

                          I do not know the material composition, but it is a harder compound, but not as hard as MRF.

                          Yes! The change of a bent rim is high with low profile tyres. It happens when the air is less in the tyres.

                              Abhijeet, you clearly need an offroading tyre for the purpose. The best option would be a Dunlop Monster 100/90 or MIchelin M45 4 x 18. M45 is expensive but excellent tyre. Dunlop Monster is reasonably good and comes for a cheaper price.

                                Michelin will be too costly. Is Dunlop Monster better than MRF Meteor? The MRF Meteor seemed to have more aggressive tread design.

                                Also I would hate to compromise on high speed ride-ability and cornering of my bike.

                                And what is the max size I can go up to without any mods on P150?
