^^^ Please read out everything written on the side walls of your tyres... that should give all the needed information.

The point here is that almost all tyres slide in loose soil and slush. Yes, you can look at tyres with button type of thread (not those pure off roading type). One popular tyre like this is from Ceat.. that's available in many sizes... Ceat Secura Sport or Ceat Vertigo Sport or both of them.... pls check out at your nearest tyre dealer.

Hey Guys,

Jus a general question from me... When i was looking at my tyre i saw a marking saying 6PR... I read online this is ply rating. But what exactly does this denote? I didnt really understand properly. Does this come into play while upsizing tyres?

I don't have first hand experience with neither but here's my take -

Duro are soft compound, offer more grip, more expensive, wears out fast
GeoCruiser is comparatively much less grippier, less expensive and offers a much longer life.

Ply rating is something like the amount of load the tyre can take at a max air pressure.

Generally I have seen that 6Ply motorcycle tyres can take about 200 KGs of weight at 50 PSI and are rated for a max speed of 150 KMPH, Even this is written on the tyre side walls.

A Fatter tyre at the rear means more weight, more rolling friction from the tyre and added weight and more load on the crank. Will reduce mileage.

Also, I think the RIM can take a tyre upto about 3 sizes up without a question. Sometimes even more.

wat about taller tyre?
What would happen if i change my stock RTR rear tyre 100/80 18 to 100/90 18 ?
will the final drive or gear ratios change? what will happen to the top speed? and pickup?
as far as i know the with a bigger diameter the topspeed would increase and a shorter tyre would give better acceleration. rite?

would 10 mm make any difference?

i had zeroed it down to zapper Q 100/90 untill i read a guy on orkut sayin 110/90 screwd his pickup and topspeed. kept me wondering.

@killtheking, I believe 1 size up for profile too should show so much effect. Yes it should give you slightly more speed at a given engine rpm and yes a slightly lower pickup but "how much" would depend on various other factors. Let us see some math here:

For a 100/80 tyre it means that the width is 100 mm and profile is 80% of the width that is 80mm. Circumfrence is 76.337 inches.

For a 100/90 tyre it means that the width is 100mm and profile is 90% of the width that is 90mm. Circumfrence is 78.813 inches.

For a 110/90 tyre it means that the width is 110mm and the profile is 90% of width that is 99mm. Circumfrence is 81.037 inches.

Not just the dimensions but with the tyre size growing the weight too goes up.

Many front tyres - especially the ones with rib designs are 4 ply.

This was almost 2 months back.....not sure if he is still selling it for the same price. This shop is just beside raitwal automobiles!

This Tire I believe is a front fitment.
U can find it on the tire side wall.
There would be an arrow with Direction of rotation.
in that you have the fitment mentioned.

Example : in Rear fitment it'll say Rear in the Arrow.
Please check & let us know what it has?

I Previously checked with Michelin US.
They are pretty CLEAR about the details on the Side wall.
What ever is mentioned on it is Final.

Tubetype needs Tube & TL means Tubeless.
Front fitment has to be front & rear only for rear.
They make them considering the Contact Patches & weight distributions during Braking, Cornering & Accelerating.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM changing the intended use.

The Siracs Work Due to their Quality.
The Porosity of the Tubetype & Tl(Tubeless) Tires are different.

The two letters in any tire TT signify Tubetype only & TL is for Tubeless.

Pulsar tire query

Hi Guys:

I have a 3 year old Pulsar 150 which has never got punctured Touchwood

. Just wanted to know what is the average life of the stock tires and if i want to fit after market tires which model, make,company and the size should i go for to improve my bikes looks and handling. Coz i have seen some Pulsars having sum really cool tires and incase if i want to fit a tubeless should any changes be made to the rims?

Plz help.
