  • I checked King's Tyre website and they have one whose tread pattern is surprisingly similar to Dunlop. Makes you wonder.

    • Guys any idea about TVS manufacturing Michelin tyres in India under license? Specially the M45s? I called Sai Iyengar to check on tyres for my P180 and he told me this.

Maybe someone posted about this and I missed it.

This is news to me. But I still doubt it.

Same here. Something about it didn't make sense to me. Basically he didn't have stock of the M45.

ANy idea where else I could get my hands on it? I need a 3.25 18 inch M45.

I am looking at changing the stock back tyre on my Thunderbird and am looking at some options. I see that a lot of the guys esp at InddieThumpers have the MRF Meteor as the back tyre. This seems like a good option, though here are my points:

                1. I need good handling - esp in wet weather. Cause I have skidded in the recent past and nearly skidded with my wife as pillion....
                2. I don't do too much long riding, but once in a month, I ride atleast 500 kms straight up and down.
                3. I will be riding mostly on dirty tarmac - the Bangalore variety
                4. Need good handling.

So all you riding gurus - please help!

Please help, I think my question got lost in the forest there......

And moreover, I went hunting all around JC for the MRF Meteor...then thought let me get some good tyre....was shown the Michelin JAP 45...didn't like it....then asked my dad in my native place to source the Meteor....but the guy says there is a strike in the MRF factory in Chennai, so no stocks and no hopes until that is over.....HELP!!!

                  • thicker tyre on slightly smaller rim actually donot affect any thing.. playing too much with tyre dia do that, so just keep chk on final dia of tyre, every thing will be as it was b4!

if u have decided to go vyde which come only on 17" u need lotsa mode
                    rim\alloy
                    tyre

It has worn out almost. May be another 1000 km. The chances of skidding is very high under panic braking. Please change the tyre.

I tried out a Full Rear Brake from 80kmph.
                        It did not fishtail.

The Thread wear indicator is Yet to be touched.
Before it touches that point I want to change either to the FZ16 rear or the IRC/Duro 130/70.

                        Whats the opinion??

Okay, you can wait till the wear indicators exposed completely. But, the fishtailing may start anytime as the tyre ware is nearing.

IRC/Duro 130/70 is a better option. The lower profile of FZ-16's rear tyre is not good for indian road conditions. More over, I do not think 140 section is a direct fit. Let me check.

Dude I saw a FZ16 tyre on a pulsar and it's not longer low profile. Since the rim is narrower the tyre wraps it's self up a lot more. Looks like a 120 section thats thicker than the stock tyre.

I wanted to take a pic of it for reference on XBP but dont have a cam phone.

If you are sure that you want to buy MRF, then you can contact them through their website with your query. You can even mention that you are unable to procure Meteor in your area. They reply pretty promptly (within a week max) and they will guide you to the nearest dealer. Just make sure that you mention your area. In my case, they guided me successfully on both the occassions that I contacted them.
                                Hope this helps
