Michelins 120/70 , 130/70 etc,. are Front Fitments!!!Originally posted by atulaherwar View Postwell sir..pilot road n sirac both fit into rtrs
Please refrain from using them for REAR!!!
Use only rear fitments for rear!!!
The front ones have outstanding performance as a front fitment.
But as rear their characteristics may not suite at all.
Checked with Michelin as well they strongly recommend against using front tires as rear fitments.sigpic

Michelin Sirac
There are names for each and every tire in Michelin. Just concluding Michelin 120/70 and 130/70 as front fintments is misleading. Please provide the names for them.Last edited by ravi@17bhp; 05-20-2009, 04:07 AM.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Michelin Siracs have excellent grip. But, they are heavy and affect performance and fuel efficiency. Only available Siracs in India are 120/90 17 and 120/80 18 (fits P220 and Karizma, respectively, well).Originally posted by atulaherwar View Postmy options buddies...

You can look at Dunlop Monster 100/90 18, if you are looking for Sirac-thread pattern. I have used it for 28000km on my Zma.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Sirac comes in 120\80\18 and 120\80\17
And Dunlop monster has pattern similar to Michelin M45 not Sirac.

My Apologies for the misleading statement.
Let me reframe it for a clear understanding.
The Reason I said in that way is all the Michelin 120/70 , 120/65 & 130/70 Avail in INDIA are Pilot Sport, Pilot Power Etc., Which are Front Fitments of SBKs.
We have another tire called Pilot Active in Michelin whichis for smaller Bikes & that is avail in 130/70-17 as rear fitment.
However U don find it in india.
It costs - 120 USD + Shipment & Taxes - App - 7-8k INR.
Michelin Sirac is a very Good Tire & its avail in 120/80-18 & 120/90-17.
This is the Full List of Tires -
Michelin North America Motorcycle Tires
Australian Site -
Please note that U can Use tires for front only in the front & rear only as rear.Last edited by Prabhakar; 05-20-2009, 07:32 AM.sigpic

Pilots are track type round profile tyres. You get good grip on tarmac but when it comes to bad patches and little off-roading they loose out badly because of lack of buttons. That's where the Sirac shines but it would make the bike less flickable on the tarmac.Originally posted by atulaherwar View Postguys michelin pilot road & road2 series is better or michelin siracs are better????
As such, Sirac would be too big for an RTR. I was checking options for my Bro's RTR but couldn't get tubeless stuff in 18" without oversizing the tyre by a good margin and suitable for some good off roading too. Currently have the following listed:
Michelin M45 4.00 x 18 for ~Rs 2000 (tyre + tube)
MRF Meteor 100/90 x 18 for Rs 1300 (without tube)
Dunlop Monster 100/90 x 18 for Rs 1150 (without tube)
Ceat Vertigo Sport 100/90 x 18 for Rs 1050 (without tube)
Continental xxxx 100/90 x 18 for ~Rs 1050 (without tube) - normal road design.
Plan to go for the Tuff-up Tube inside.
Have to decide between the Dunlop & the MRF. The MRF Meteor seems to be softer compound than the Monster or Vertigo. Monster is harder than the Vertigo. But for bad roads & offroad type the Vertigo and Monster look like good deals.
Any suggestions guys?
A Pic of the MRF Meteor:

Ceat and Dunlop images were posted here a few pages ago.
It is not one shop but a whole market on both the sides of the road and into the lanes. In the 4-5 shops I checked I didn't find Pilelli's for motorcycles.Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostPirellis available with him by any chance anna?
you would anyway carry a spare tube with you. They why not go tubeless? if the tyre gets a cut, add the tube inside.Originally posted by razorBlades View PostI will look into some zappers if possible.. i guess tubeless tyres are a little less dependable in leh roads when compared to the tubed ones! (if it gets cut!)
Good to know that the Ceat Vertigo Sport is good enough. It is a VFM deal. But the 18 inchers are not tubeless.Originally posted by Akshay. View PostYup yup i got the michelin sirac, but amber, ceat is a good tyre and real VFM since its a tubeless.

+1 to it.Originally posted by onlinesatish View Postnope sirac comes in 120-80-18 and 120-90-17
