I'm a very low mileage rider (21K since 2004) so mileage doesn't bother me. But hard compounds only get harder with age, and I'm hoping that the soft one will last longer time-wise. If it lasts me a year I'll be happy.

*Now you are scrapping the foot pegs, son you will be doing knee down, after that .??? Elbow..
Hope not. One of the reasons I'm scraping stuff is because of the lower ground clearance. Still, this tyre just 'feels' so grippy, you know what I mean. I know that I was leaning a fair deal, because the I heard the guy behind me go 'Oh!'

front trye- a very good deal. Over all handling would improve drastically!
That's what I figure. Now if I could only get my hands on one.

*2,500 INR + 150/- for the nozzle and 50/- Labour
Man, ,That is extortionate. In Delhi the tyre was like, 600/- because it was used a bit, free nozzle and 10/- Labour!
If i go for brand new around 1200/-INR and 10/- Labour + 50/- Nozzle
I mistyped the first time. It was 1500 not 2500. The valves are is short supply, so the price is high. I'm sure that it is the case with the tyres as well. My only other option is to go for Kings or Duro. I haven't tried those, so I have no idea what they'll be like. Are they any good?
This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D

            • need suggestions for 19 inch tyres for Thunderbird. i saw dunlop 100/90 on one bike, which fit in the stock swingarm.

I dont wanna mod anything, but if possible to get better tyres front and rear, since soon ill be putting up a disc on the front, and as it is i am a heavy user of the front brake.

The rear tyre tends to lock a lot, so i modulate the braking on that one, if there is anything better, do suggest guys, and how much.

@Razorblades: Is Acme tyres an authorised mich dealer? Coz my bro had gone to him to get the front 2.75-18 M45 which he got for 1450 without tube...and for the rear tyre ie. 4.00-18 he quoted Rs.3200....so he got the rear from sign tyres for 1850. Is there a way we can complain to Michelin India about these prices?

@rookster: It wont be that difficult getting the 17in tyres, coz most companies are manufacturing them and are available in plenty.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It is because of people like you that the others will benefit. I have noted your complaint of overcharging and we will investigate and take action.

                • Help !!!!

I am relatively new to this forum......
but can anybody please help me, i have to change the rear tyre on my Pulsar 180 (ug3)....
I was thinking of going for the MRF Zapper vyde, as it is the only easily available tubeless tyre in my town.....
would it be alright for the bike ? I mean considering any drop in acceleration or anything ? coz i heard some people say that a bigger tyre cuts of some acceleration....
also, will I have to remove the chain cover for it ?
Also, is it okay with punctures ? Is it true that you can run with a punctured tyre ?
Also, the stuff that they pour inside the tube, does that help ?
                  Ride safe!

Hi, I have put in Zapper C, 120/80 on my P180 UG3..got it for 1700 bucks..dint find any noticeable drop in acceleration..although not tried a drag wid a stock running P180..but by itself its working fine..n d engine runs much relaxed now..get better speeds at lesser rpms..was using a IRC 100/80 before dis..so d rpms saw a major change.get 88 at 7k and crosses 100 at 8k..vyde is d same profile,so shouldnt be a prob..just softer compound so will give better grip but less lifetime..my IRC ran 4000 only,so dint want a soft compound..n d difference is not too much anyway on a daily usage basis..

                            • Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't more rubber contact surface mean more performance ? that ways, lesser grooves should mean higher performance on tyres ?

i dnt think my rear tyre could take more than 500km....
                              It's already been thru 15k......
It also has endured a couple of "burnouts"...........
the center patch looks almost 90% bald now....

yes and No....yes it does aid performance as almost the entire power is transferred to the contact patch and NO..it becomes difficult to handle on corners with undulations and irregularities....
try calling tyre Trax on Nagar road. Darshan Tyres is also good. Another place you could try is a small shop on JM road in the lane beside the sweet shop near the subway. Forgot the name.
