    PULSAR 150 tyres

    Hi Everyone,
    I am having a pulsar 150 i have crossed 70k kms .My pulsar tyre is totally out of condition. Since the bike has covered more than 70k kms so i am thinking if i change to new MRF tyre and If suddenly one day my engine gets spoit then whole money i invest is gone.I have two Qwestion:

    1.Is there a possiblity that the engine of 150 goes off as i have gone more than 70k kms . if that is so then is there anythin to prevent it????
    (I do all my servicing regularly )

    2.I want to change my tyre but because the engine is so old so i am thinking of going for a second hand .
    Is my decision correct??
    What all things i need to take look before bying a second hand tyre ??
    How to know which one is best???

      I got Zapper FS as front tyre, I checked for R15 front tyre too but it was for 17" and not for 18".

      Zapper FS costed me Rs.254 only, I would suggest one & all to try to take a claim rather then going directly for a purchase.

      I remember the person who rejected my claims on the ground of uneven use and wear.. and he himself gave the claim after he received mail from their chennai office

      I also saw a R15 biker over there with the gloves on, m not sure if he's one the xbhpian, he was very angry with the quality of R15 tyre since it gets burned out very fast and that too not equally, he told me that his last tyre was used one side more then the other side and MRF knows being its manufacturing defect and all R15 guys can claim their tyres on a pro rata basis.

      Just passing on the info what i got to know.. my 2 cents for all of the xbhpians.

        1. If you have done all your servicing regularly then there is nothing to worry about. Modern engines are able to handle tens of thousands of kms with proper maintenance. You could probably check the P150 ownership thread for more information on what you need to check to ensure you bike continues to give you miles of trouble free running.

        2. Go for a new tyre. You will not regret it. Please avoid second hand tyres. I assume from your post that you are still on your stock tyres. I havent heard of anyone who has used tyres that long. The sooner you shift to new tyres the better. Please remember that as good as your bike is, the tyres are responsible for the contact patch with the road. If they offer no grip, you are putting yourself at risk.

          iwant to know the engine condition before i change the tyre as it cost nearly 5k.
          is there a way that bajaj people can check how long more the engine will go???
          what is engine rebuild ??
          how much would it cost???

            The stock mrf tyres will not cost u more than 3.5k. For pulsar 150 the ownership thread is here.

              Did some research and came up with this---
              1) a zipped PDF file of Pirelli Tyres suitable for indian roads and comparison along with sizes. which of these are actually available in market, needs to be checked and will do tommorrow. tyres in my excel sheet are not good for off roading. strictly street use.
              2) a PDF file of Mechelin tyres officially available in india. apart from this pdf file Michelin Pilot Road 2 is a good tyre, if you can get one, and the size is suitable for you. this is dual compound tyre giving good dry and wet grip on road. avalable in 120/70 ZR17 TL- FRONT AND 180/55 ZR17 TL - REAR.

                Small and stupid query!

                Can front same-spec tire be fitted to the rear of the bike?

                I was going through the brochure of Pirelli ^^ .There are no SDs for 110-spec tire(rear).So,I was thinking if the same spec-ed front fitments would do? Is it alright?

                        ^^Okay,okay..Seriously my fault! I didn't mention the rim size.I am asking for 17'' incher.Yes,you are right 110/70-18 is available but there's no option for 17inchers for the rear tire..

                        And about my second question,I meant the 110/80-17 are available only as FRONT in the brochure.There's none under REAR column for these specs.As,I have read earlier somewhere in this very thread that a front-spec tire may under-perform if used at rear,hence,apprehensive about it.

                          Yeah SD is not available in 110/70-17 in india,You cannot use front tire on the rear,as the thread pattern of front tire and rear tire are different and both tires are meant for work in different ways.Hopw this helps

                            Bad News that!
                            No DEMONS for me then..Any idea how the Zapper C is(Cb-dazzler one)? Or any other 110/xx-17" spec rubber?
                            What about VeeRubber? I have heard them to be very grippy!
