Dukes are Street Bikes from KTM, Dukes are not even Supermoto (Off Road bikes with Street Tyres) bikes.

The Duke 690 though has a bit of Supermoto attitude (minus the ground clearance).
The Super Duke 990 is a pure Street bike with a big engine.

If you are reading news then it is very much clear that KTM 200 is heading to India which is a street bike based on KTM125 platform.

Speculation is the Job of media/publications/forums/blogs. Manufacturers either officially announce them or keep mum till the time is right.

Bajaj has officially announced the KTM 125 Duke will be launched in European markets by March-April 2011. KTM has officially said (<i>put in some effort and check out the Facebook 125 Duke fanpage</i>) about a 200 cc bike being made for Asian markets (<i>launch date not officially announced yet</i>).

By the way, If anyone needs Gyan on KTM bikes, just check out their international lineup and read about them on some quality publications/sties (<i>and not rely on those amateur "desi" blogs</i>).

"Bajaj Enduro SX" was an effort by Bajaj to make a dual purpose (suitable for slight off road and on road use as well) bike but it was not accepted by the market.

Then there was the "BMW Funduro 650" (dual purpose bike) which Hero used to import to India in the mid 1990's. But it was grossly overpriced for its time and hardly a few hunderd units were sold in India.

There is a firm based in Gurgaon called "Adventure Wheels" which imports Chinese made Pure off road bikes (which are not meant for public roads and can't be registered).

+1, the SuperMotoish trait on it is probably being linked due to its stance.... throw in moto tyres and it would probably be better than any other option available in India!

Do you think people will go for a relatively unknown brand?

Initial hesitation will be there. The product looks good so no problem there, price will play a very key role here.

KTM Duke 200 might be MG favorite........
Someone likes Dual Purpose more than Superbikes.

That brings to the question, why is BMW not here yet !!!!!
