I got Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish from Automall. What I've been suggested from Automall was to use it on surface with dull paint. I used it on my Rx that was not polished for a year or so. Just one application of Meguiar's polish yielded amazing result. The paint was restored to gloss, just like, out of the factory. And application & work out is simply easy. Its way better than Waxpol kind of polishes.

I'd say, its bang value for money.

Ok I have said this before and will say it again, if you want the best stuff, then buy the best stuff, will really last you for years, the best available is Meguires and Autoglym, both companies have a fairly comprehensive range, mequires has a fantastic rep in the USA and other locations, Autoglym is famous in the UK, Jaquar (not the tap manufacturer which is called Jaquar, by the way) and Aston Martin, they use this stuff ex factory. The Collonite stuff also has a great rep. 3M stuff sucks in my opinion, the 3M guys are all franchises, at least over here, i remember speaking to one guy a year or so back, he didn't seem confident enough of what he was doing. so done the job myself. There is other great stuff available (more expensive niche stuff) but won't mention them as they aren't available here. If you are looking to get close to concours levels the regular cheap stuff won't come close, stick to the above recommendations and you will be happy!

I have had a small problem , might be a OT but require help on this

While lubing/cleaning the chain with MOTUL chain lube and clean recently, the deposits from the spray have stuck on my CBR alloys. I tried cleaning using ONR but not able to get it off. Whats the best way to remove stains from the alloys?

Use Diesel/Petrol/Kerosene to remove the sticky, gluey stains & I'm sure it does the job. I used WD40.

Thanks for the info Aargee. So i can use petrol / diesel / kersoene with a brush on the chain / alloy to remove the greasy stuff? Was not able to find WD 40 around. will go again to JC road and look for it.

You can perfectly use Kerosene or Diesel; but more appropriate would be petrol because, it evaporates, so you don't have to clean the Diesel or Kerosene additionally.

However, the best option & effective way to burn wallet is to use chain cleaner solvents from Wurth or Motul.

Just noticed that you used ONR to clean up; hope you know that you need to wash the alloy wheels with ONR after cleansing with Diesel/Kerosene/Petrol/WD40.

How do I clean my bike which has deposits of mud and dirt on it? Multiple layers of it? Thinking of just spraying it off the bike!

No they are not. Microfiber cloths are like towels. Get the best - small yellow ones from 3M for Rs.99/- and Blue large ones for Rs.300/-

Apply diesel and let soak for a few minutes before scrubing it off with a cotton cloth. If this does not help, then you may need to use a rubbing compound or a clay bar to get the paint marks off.

Like to share a few points based on my car & bike detailing experience:

1) Teflon Coating is a sad gimmick and many fall for it, thanks to the service guys who promote it, especially to new bikers.

2) ONR and Turtle Wax ICE products are over hyped.

3) Loads of fake Formula1 products in the market.

4) Best products are from Wurths, 3M, Meguiars, Mothers & Collinite.
Formula1 (Original), Turtle, Sonax, Eagle One and Armor-All are good too.

5) Use microfibers only on painted and plastic parts, and cotton cloth on the lower part of the bike. Microfibers are delicate and expensive.

6) Many wash & wax shapoos are available which will coat your bike with a thin layer of wax while you wash it.

7) Keep moving parts on your bike over-lubricated during the rains.

8) Best to get a pressure water wash done before you shampoo and wax your bike. Spray liberally on the lower part of the bike including the chain and sprocket as well. Lube well after it dries.

9) When washing manually, use the 2-bucket system.

10) Ideal detailing procedure is: Wash, Clay, Wax, Coat (Protect), Glaze.

WASH - using a good shampoo
I use Formula1 100 Washes - Wash & Wax

CLAY - using Mothers, Meguiars or 3M Clay Bar
I use Mothers California Gold Clay Bar - (Once every a few months only)

WAX - using a good quality Carnuba Auto Wax
I use Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0

COAT - using a good Insulator Wax
I use Collite 845

GLAZE - The last time I got my car wax-clay-polished at a friends garage, he applied a Glaze that gave a DEEP RICH WET LOOK to my car. I own a Flash Red POLO. This was after a wash & wax routine but collinite 845 was not used for coating, instead a Glaze was used. I also bought another product from Amway - Silicone Glaze but not as good as the one my friend used on my car. Will find out what Glaze he was using. It gave an amzing depth and deep rich look to the paint. Also need to confirm if I can Coat over the Glaze or Glaze over the Coat?

Two Bucket Wash System
* Splash clean water all over car, to soak excess dirt in certain areas
* Dip microfiber cloth in 1st bucket and wipe one portion of car in straight lines
* Use different sides of microfiber cloth to trap dirt one side at a time
* Rinse soiled microfiber cloth in 2nd bucket thoroughly
* Rinse the same cleaned microfiber cloth in 1st bucket again before use
* This ensures no scratches as you are using a clean cloth, everytime you wipe, instead of a soiled cloth, which remains soiled if a single bucket is used.

Not expensive, the initial outlay is fairly high, the waxes will last you years and you only need to do it 3 times a year, I do mine at end of may, after the monsoon and end of Jan/early Feb, that with my weekly wash, keeps it all good.

Nowadays, with more importers/distributors for world class products in India, these products have really gone affordable. For eg. I bought an imported Mothers Glass Cleaner for close to Rs.1.5k last time and now, that a local importer distributor has been appointed in India, it costs as low as Rs.270/- I found most products I bought from abroad were way too expensive compared to the fact that they are available at a much lower rate in India from ofiicial importers/distributors.

Anyways, detailers charge a whopping amount for even basic detailing jobs, not to mention the shoddy work they end up with.

I polish my bike with a good wax (i use Turtle wax super hard shell) after a nice wash. What is the glaze and where can i get it? I will buy the Meguiars soon, will i still need a glaze?
