What polish should be used in metals? Like Polishing Silencer plate/Guard in ZMA,etc? Any particular brand like the 3M?

            • My bike is 8 months old
i wash my bike regularly so during washing and cleaning using normals cloth small small scratches occur on the surface i big but small swirl scratches with are caused by the cloth
i am confused whether i need a Wax or Polish
i read that rubbing compounds remove the clear coat layer
so please suggest me which one should i buy

went to shop and asked for wax he showed me formula 1 wax rs300

Formula 1 High-Performance Auto Care Products

              it was a bigger box

Suggest me what should i take

I am also confused. Saw the box at a shop, price was 380. Don't know original or fake. How to know it? What is the real price?

This is what i used to shine my baby. This is used by most of the local SVC guys near my area.
                  Its from makers of Fevicol
for 50ml= 25rs, 100ml=40rs. First i brought 50ml for testing. its perfect. but i dont know how many days it lasts. with this cheap rate i dont think its last more than a week. but i am happy i searched some local stores for more polish and wax but not available. i need to search more stores. I think the 3M is a good one let me check is it available here.
I use the same thing, it's made by pidilite and gives excellent shine as good as new and removes all kind of sticky dirt the bike may have on it. the only downside is if you apply slightly thicker coat then buffing it with hand is very very tiring, at least for me :P but it's worth the effort, and i just brought turtle wax super hard shell. do you guys think it's a good idea to use turtle wax after applying the above product? P.S- learnt the hard way not to apply robert's on mag wheels or plastic, like speedo etc that has an rough surface, only to be applied on glossy surface or your bike will turn white.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

                  • Both robert's & 3M are synthetic polymer wax in solvent . Turtle hard shell is natural carnauba wax (plus some other proprietary stuff), which is even harder to buff off if too thickly applied or let to over-dry . On plastics , you can use waxpol liquid silicone polish. If you do get a dry wax stain anywhere, best way to remove is to apply some more of the same stuff afresh and wipe off vigorously immediately without any waiting .

                    • Today while checking for scratch remover in polish shop here , found a rubbing polish of 3m with cost र 110 /- . The shop owner has said it will remove only light scratched but not deep one & said Scratch out is better than this , but not available now will be in a month .

Any one knows about that scratch out ( Sorry i forgot name of its manufacturer , but the shop owner said its come from usa . )

Also he showned me Cartec polishes , applied one of cartec polish on small portion on my ZMR tank , & after 5 minit's he cleaned with a 3m micro fiber cloth & damn it's so smooth . He said it will last more than 2 months . Cost written on that bottle is र 2200/- He then shown a combo box from cartec having 3 bottles one shampoo , one polish , one shine polish , the all 3 bottles seems to be of 150 / 250 ml , cost written on that box is र 1900/- But he said he will give it for र 1600 /- & offered a 3m micro fiber cloth of र 150/- free on it .

I collected a info page from him about cartec but nothing much specified there some general info & these 2 websites WaxGuard & Epcoat Surface Systems . Any one used or using cartec products ? Are they good ?

The 3m stuff is less abrasive and I think the scratch out is more abrasive. Be careful when using, if in doubt try it on an irritating neighbours car first or take it to professional.

Good waxes, especially if layered up over a few sessions, should give a great shine for 6 months or more easily. You generally get what you pay for. The Cartec kit seems a bit expensive, not heard of them myself.
Best to get a good liquid polymer from Autoglym or Mequires, you could try collonite, a good budget brand is Abel auto wax. For shampoo you can use from Wurth, 200 bucks for a large bottle and don't forget a few micro fibre cloths.

I will try the scratch out or other product first on my other bike . To be on safer side .
I don't want the shampoo , i need a good polish which make shine & protect color from minor scratches & from becoming dull due to sun light .
And a scratch remover . Autoglym , Mequires are not available here .
Formula 1 ( Can't say about genuiness ) , turtle wax , 3M wax , Waxpol are mostly available . So which should be good between these & which one hard wax or liquid polish

Liquid wax is easier on and off and the job is done much quicker. Hard waxes are hard work, but often can give a better result, though generally leave a residue on plastic parts, so be careful when applying, i prefer to use both, leaving 48 hours minimum between coats, always wash and dry the bike, using a good automotive shampoo, with microfibre cloths and a good chamois before waxing.

You should be able to order Meguires or Autoglym from the distributors, they are both excellent choices and one bottle will last you years.

This bike is two years old. I am regularly using Armor All Wash & Wax shampoo and their STP SON OF A GUN wax.
