The problem with most people is the lack of understanding regarding freeflow systems. Just plonking a free flow does not make any difference. Specially on a bike that has a cv carb, If you really want some difference then change to a round slide carb like VM 28 and then use the filter and tune it properly otherwise it is a waste of money, I have used a K&N on my 180 for nearly 4 years and I will vouch for the fact that it does work.

the thing that most people forget when they install an aftermarket filter is that with an increase in air flow the fuel also needs to increase to result in an increase in performance.if that is not done you will be running lean.

Bibhu, could you give a little more info like, whther a Vm28 carb would fit a P150cc, or should I go for any other specfic carbs? Also how much do u think it could cost?

Well, First understand something. You are looking for a performance upgrade that can increase your bike's acceleration. For top end increase you will need some serious mods which are not very practical on our bikes.

Second, doing this will rob the bike of its smoothness and fuel efficiency.

Third, It needs to be done properly by a good mechanic who has experience and/or skill. Otherwise you will end up like everyone else.

Since we have got those cleared up, In my opinion the best carb for you will be a VM26 from the RX135, combined with a r1060 it will give you tremendous throttle response compared to a cv carb. Because normal round slide carbs flow much better than cv carbs but are harsher.

                      • on a related topic, how do people here who have installed k&n's free flow air filters on their bikes[ esp pulsars] keep them away from water during the monsoons and when washing their bikes..?

                        • ^^ generally done by installing a aluminium, or equally light fabricated metal plate that covers the filter from the outside, but does not restrict air flow. Also acts as a good deterrent for potential thieves.

I had a check on this sometime back in bangalore & the ans I got from one of the agents is that this does not come separately & it always comes along with the filter.

Why don't you put normal foam instead of this which will also do the purpose for you.

PS - I had used the foam as well for couple of thousand Kms & I do not know what happened mileage went down Instantly so now back to K&N Stock.

i checked with a few dealers in delhi and one sniper auto in pune...they said that these wraps are not imported in India...sniper auto also said that these wraps are not needed under normal conditions but only for rally etc in extremely dusty conditions....so i guess i will have to do without these wraps
