Hey pankaj... insatlling an air filter is not a great deal... in CBZ..
open up the air filter box.. and take out the stock filter, some thing like a sponge.. after u do it..
intall the k&n and then tighten up the screw..fix the air filter on the Hose pipe, and tighten up the screw.. and then remove the outer cover.. and install the outer panel..

And also..if u wondering the the top speed.. it wont increase mate..However.. the time that ur CBZ takes to reach 120 kmph reduces..
      that's it..

take out the entire airbox that'll create space and attach the K&N there......

make sure it's properly housed and belted to the carb.........

simply attaching it won't be helpin you in the performance fronts, you have to make the 'mixture' of the bike on the 'richer' side(more petrol).....
you can try re-jetting the carb also but that should be done by experienced hands.........
but i'll suggest you to play with the fuel mixture only....
it will be tryal and error on the starting till you get ur best 'setting'.....

the said 'disadvantage' will be higher fuel consumption.....
it may result in overheatin of the engine if the mixture is not right.........

          OKay,

now first illl say DONT DO it at all,

I myself own a cbz-xtreme (32,000 kms since march 07) at present and its modded with a monoshock and a K&N air filter and running on stock jets. the reason i had to go for K&N is because the mono took up the space where the airbox is located.

          problems you'll face with k&n :-
the universal air filter (conical type) which probably you have in mind to fit on your bike makes the mixture too lean with the default carb settings, i used to get 57 kmpl with my cbz-x in stock condition. it went down to 44-48 kmpl after the mod. and yes im still running on stock jets, you wont need to upjet. you have to do trial and error(airscrew on the carb) and get the point where the right mixture is obtained.

and performance isnt even a tad more, hardly noticeable.
on the contrary i feel the top end has gone DOWN. its only that the bike's faster in 50-80 kmph region, that's all. nothing fascinating to BLOW your money on.

ALSO voids warranty (though i cared two hoots)

Instead of going in for a K&N better invest in

better tyres such as IRC (2700 for the set) 2.75 section front and 110/80 rear, Much MUCH better than the standard MRF the bike comes with

here's the post in which i mentioned the tyres

and have the alternator coil rewinded and pop in a mico 65w headlight bulb. the stock headlight is pathetic with poor illumination.

You could go to Babloo Motors in Vashi.... they stock after market filters like K&N and Pipercross... and also help fit it properly. They also do rejetting work I guess.

The FZ16 comes with a Iridium spark plug factory fitted AFAIK.

You can get K&N Filter at 4Seasons, Tardeo opposite to Crossroads there is a mill inside that they have the workshop. Also you can get Pipercross filter at N1 Racings, Prabhadevi in a Gully opposite to Skoda Showroom.

                      Hi friend,

I have installed K&N RC1060 airfiler & NGK Iridium Plug on my FZ. I am not feeling much difference in performance and reduced my mileage about 5 kms.

                      So i won't suggest K&N on FZ....

                            K&n or Green filter

i have used k&n rc1060 on my uni for a very long time and lost it recently..
so came across some green filter which is costing almost the same price..
did a bit of googling and found some rewies saying that green is better than k&n as it has a thicker rubber part which can absorb vibrations better and also more but smaller pores on the surface when compared to k&n so restricting dust better...
all the details abt the green filter r available below...
so confused so as to what filter should be bought...
