Considering all the hiccups that you had, the best you could try is-

    1. Check if the black color under those scratches are dark enough and good quality.
    2. If yes, then you can wet sand the affected surface areas using 3M 2000 grit paper with medium pressure.
    3. For buffing step, instead of buffer you can use MF Towels also. The unevenness would fade off exposing the paint.
    4. Then you can take help from a good paint shop to spray over with clear coat first and then a coat of hardener.
    5. (Or) just simply polish and wax the layer on a regular basis.

I will post a pic of the area where I think its coming off so please tell me what kind of coating is it or maybe there is not coating and scratches etc are on tank paint itself.
Those are pretty bad scratches & it's some kind of worst clear coating on the tank. Better repaint & then start waxing regularly & keep all the curious hands off your vehicle.

        Sorry for the late response

          No probs saaar

Bought and applied Motomax 2K rubbing compound today, managed to remove most of the coat or whatever crap it was. Shining like new. Scratches are still there. Will post a pic tomorrow again.

Need to ask one thing, the Formula 1 scratch remover- is it any good? and is it different from a rubbing compound?

Ensure you get a original one & not fake Formula 1; instead try Meguiars scratchX which you can be sure to get a genuine one

But is it different from rubbing compound (the motomax 2K, 2K Rubbing Compound-100Gm Price: Buy Motomax 2K Rubbing Compound-100Gm Online in India - Infibeam.com).
Then only I will buy it.

If the scratches are too deep (beyond clear-coat), then no scratch remover will help you. I have not used Formula 1, but Meguiars Ultimate compound (a bit more aggressive than Meguiars Scratch X) has removed clear-coat level scratches on my petrol tank. For deep scratches, with a bit more elbow grease, it managed to make it almost invisible. Hope that helps.

Yes, they are different. Meguiars will not leave a haze after you use it unlike other cheap scratch removers. But honestly, if you have already removed the clear-coat and the scratches are still present, then no scratch remover is going to help.

                  Thanks for the response.

And I was asking about the F1 Scratch out, not Meguiars.

Just stay away from Formula 1 product. 99% chances you will get a fake in India.

Pls buy what you like, Formula 1 or Formula 100; I've told what's practical, rest is up to you. May be you thought rubbing was as easy as rubbing something else I can't help if you want to learn the hard way. Good luck!!!

Arey! Looks like you took me wrong. Anyways, Sorry for the confusion. I understood that for removing scratches Meguiar's Scratch X is recommended.

Though ita recommended it has to be an even and slightly higher speed rubbing. Would recommend getting it done at a shop qhich does denting and painting job, as they will have the machine to do that. If you take your Meguiars Scratch X then should charge you only 100-150 for the job. Post rubbing would advise using a good paint selant like Collinate 845 or a good protecting Wax. Plz note there is difference between protecting Wax and a quick detailing wax....
