  • [xBhp Universal Thread]: Bike ( Two wheeler Servicing cost) Pan India

Guys I would want to know how much does a two wheeler servicing cost in general across India. A normal service would include. I am including a few tasks and relevant cost that comes to my mind. Please update/include things and details.

    1) Oil change - if separate gear box include that as well - (INR 50)

    2) Air filter cleaning ( foam element needs a proper cleaning) ( INR 20)

    3) cleaning the brake shoes and tightening them ( INR 50)

    4) Cleaning the chain and lubricating it ( INR 50)

    5) lubricating the brake, clutch, and accelerator cables ( Very rarely done) (INR 50)

    6) Cleaning the spark plug (INR 10)

    7) IN case of oil injected two strokers ( adjusting the oil pump) (INR 30)

    8) Cleaning the carb jets and float bowl and adjusting the air fuel mixture (INR 50)

In most parts of Hyderabad they charge anywhere between 150-250 for this. The bike was is usually between 50 to 80 rupees

I think Bangalore is pretty expensive at that!

      Take this for an example:
I don't wash my bike simply coz I cannot reach the nook and corner and the greese and dirt don't go away from normal hand wash. First experience was when I got my bike washed from a local water service. It cost Rs.60. But they were careless and directed high pressure water all over bike including front brake and instruments. He drained petrol from my tank itself to wash the dirt off wheels and to clean chain. That's when I decided never to give it outside.

I travel to my SVC every month for the wash and polish which costs me Rs.84 (inclusing service tax.) and bike looks sparkling due to the polish!

Same reason I don't service my bike at local mechanics. Indeed they take care of the bike but don't have power tools and required spares to do the task neat and clean. Yamaha SVC prices are little high but they do a very neat and perfect job. Every time I had any trouble the SVC took it personally. Especially if i take it back after a paid service and say the job was not okay they look into it. Recently I got them to look into my rear suspension which was removed and inspected for free.
      Manual suggest service at 3000km / 70days. But I give it every 2000km / 60days.

The expense I incur is as follows:

      Routine service labour : Rs.300+75(chain lube/clean spray)+service tax
Includes - Oil Change, oil filter replacement, spark plug check, air filter cleaning, chain adjustment, battery topup/charging, brake adjustment/cleaning spray, clutch and throttle adjustment, chain cleaner spray and lubrication, water wash + polishing and any minor complaints that you may have told.

But other labour charges in addition to basic service I have incurred till date are:
1.Front brake overhaul and brake fluid change : Rs.150+tax
      2. Front suspenstion check/Steering handle greesing - Rs.250+tax
      3. Clutch plate overhaul - Rs.185+tax

A normal paid service + other labour charges + consumables run me a bill of Rs.700 to 1300

Prajyan, I agree about bangalore being very expensive, Recently my Brother-in-law got his pulsar and Activa serviced and the total asked was an unbelievable 1000 Rs

          For Pulsar,

          1) Good wash
          2) chain clean and tightening
          3) Disc Brake pad clean and tightening
          4) Rear disk brake shoe clean
          5) Spark Plug clean
          6) Oil change
          --
          Activa

          1) A good thorough water wash

          2) Brake shoe replacement ( Front and Back)

          3) Replacing the flasher
          4) Engine oil change

          5) Spark plug clean

The carb was not touched at all and I am very surprised by this as in Hyd the first thing that the mechs clean is the carb. That is all that was done and I was shocked when the guy asked for 1000 rupees which was day light robbery ( I would believe anything close to 450 was more than enough). I forgot the name of the guy but he is a small garage owner in Amruthahalli village ( take a right from Byatrayanpura). I would suggest all people never to go with an assumption, but ask before the start about what all is included in the service and the cost as well.

Great thread. I remember servicing my motorcycles (regular paid service) back in Kolkata even 2 years back would cost me nothing more than Rs. 150/- excluding engine oils and extra parts/consumables. I fail to remember even with consumables if it would ever go beyond 200 bucks. I dont think I have ever walked out of a SVC in Bangalore without paying a bill of around 700-1500 bucks with a long list of items in the bill.

Hmmm.Very rarely you find a good mechanic and usually such mechanics charge more. He seems to be a experienced person and is right at not touching the carb. Becoz you don't actually need to clean a 4 stroke carb regularly, once in 10K km should be it. A mechanic at SVC told me, "Sir we don't touch the carb unless there is a big problem, since factory tuned carb don't require any service unless it is found that bad fuel was filled in which case petrol tank, carb and engine all will be inspected". But in city like Bangalore you wouldn't find adultrated fuel if you go to reputed bunks.

I follow the motto "Better safe than sorry" bro, doesn't matter to me if the problem is negligible but it must be fixed and don't mind small expense when you can bear it.

I learnt it for first time when riding bicycle itself. The front mudgaurd nut had fallen off and I tied a rope to the mudgaurd and the rod in front and managed to ride around for few days, too bad that rope snapped unexpectedly, mud gaurd stuck to the tyre and I went flying and broke my arm. A 2rs nut could have saved a hundreds of ruppes bill and more than that the pain I suffered.

Ok, so my bike goes for its routine overhaul session. (I have decided to do it every 10-12k kms depending on usage)

                ODO - ~23k kms

List of parts to be replaced/cleaned (old ones will go as spares)
                1. Spark plug.
                2. Clutch cable.
                3. Accelerator cables A and B.
                4. Injector cleaning.
                5. Sprockets cleaning.
                6. Air filter cleaning. (replaced 5k kms ago)
                7. Replacing brake fluid, DOT4 in both brakes.
                8. OEM N250R front pads as spare. Current ones good for at least 3-4k more kms.
                9. Mobil1 10w40 FS.
                10. Vibrations to be dampened using rubber bush(es) and double sided tape wherever possible.

Cost me 3300 rupees including labor. HMC services aren't getting cheaper at all.
                Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Today got my bike serviced in CHennai local mechanic for 400 rs without oil change, he washed the bike + normal service + changed some oil seals (which were leaking) and charged Rs.150/- so general service cost he quoted Rs.200/- but in chennai its better to give to ASC than local mechanics, because as per my experience with AC or bike or any equipment mechanic the ASC rate estimate are accurate whereas for local mechanics in my case for Service he quoted 200rs which made me happy then other works + water wash all added more 200 rs, to the bill making it 400 but by that time my bike was in workshop and nothing could be done, i thought would save money but ended up spending same as ASC cost, hence from now onwards plan to give in ASC only,

Update local mech was rip off while returning from office the bike stopped in mid of deserted road and had to change spark plug. Thanks to two good samaritans on bike who twoed / pushed my two wheller from behind their bike till 2 kms till mechanic shop. Now plan to give the bike to asc in another months time and do engine overhaul and bore change as recommended by asc

Re: Bike ( Two wheeler Servicing cost) Pan India

In Hyderabad at MGB the bike service will cost Rs 350 without engine oil but one year ago it was Rs 230 at MGB. Is it the correct price ? Since when did they increased the service cost from Rs 230 to Rs 350 ? Can anyone from Hyderabad let me know whether it is true?
