Hi guys..
Well there's a nitrogen gas filling station just a couple of minutes from my place. I never tried it before.. Because there are some doubts in my mind and there wasn't a place to ask n clear out them. Now that the thread is up, I think I can get the answers.
1) I use my R15 only for touring. Very rarely in city. so if today I fill the tyres with nitrogen, and midway on a road trip if I feel like checkin the air pressure, can i use the regular Gas station Air meters for checking the air pressure? Because those things are automatic..They put in or take out air if the air pressure is +/-. That means I'll b filling in normal air in the tyres which already have nitrogen in it. Will it do? What m I supposed to do? Where should I check the air pressure then?
2) If by any chance my bike has a puncture and tyre goes flat, after the puncture repair, I guess I'll have to deflate both the tyres and fill in normal air. Right?
Please clarify these doubts and I am all set to experiement with nitrogen for my R15. Let's see what change I find in handling, braking, performance and economy.
Thanks in advance!Ketan Nikharge.

^^^There is no issue about mixing normal air with nitrogen at all if thats what you are worried about!! But then the moment you do that, the nitrogen content in your tyres will of course go down! You can of course deflate and refill with nitrogen anytime later... and waste some more $...

@Ketan, among the major benefits of Nitrogen are
1) Tyres run cooler
2) Tyres don't loose pressure easily.
In fact, for motorcycle tyres you wouldn't even need to check for at least a month. For cars it is like 3 months. If you still want to keep checking then get a guage for yourself. You get good ones for under Rs 100.
Also, most nitrogen filling stations guarantee that and refil Nitrogen for free if the pressure falls in certain time period. Check with the place near to you about this.
Nitrogen is a larger molecule than regular air molecule and is much cooler... so, less heat and less expansion add to that it needs more space to escape out - so the tyres keep the air pressure longer. In some cases over 6 months.
You can fill normal air into the tyre if you need to and there is no harm except that you forego Nitrogen effect.
In case of a puncture you just fill normal air into the tyre that got punctured. Next time you find a Nitrogen filling station, fill it in.
Tyres defanitely run cooler than with normal air and pressure is retained much much longer. That's from my own expereice.
Again, I am not sure if the price they demand for is worth it in Motorcycle tyres.

I used to use. After the alloy got bent the new valve had leaking problem... then there was no point in going for N2 as normal air was going out in 2-3 days. N2 would go out in a week. Got that rectified to a good extent now. Need to take one more conformation and then will refill again.Originally posted by TnT View PostHydbiker anna... do u use N2 for your R15 tyres?
