Is there any disadvantage if i go for a colder spark plug. The problem is my engine heats up alot on long rides.
Will the colder spark plug have any drawbacks on shorter rides??

Spark plug & Lean mixture

hi all.this is the first time i removed my spark plug from the bike.i noticed the tip of the spark plug was totally black ( loads of carbon ) does it mean that i've been riding in a lean mixture ? since i'm riding a glamour efi bike its idle screw only adjusts the airflow.how can i get a richer mixture.thank you

From the looks of your spark plug it seems that your bike is burning engine oil .
It can be due to faulty piston rings or leaking valve oil seals.
If you see whitish smoke from exhaust after revving the bike then,
I suggest you get the compression test done on the bike.

And regarding the air fuel mixture I'll say it is difficult to read because the spark plug is covered in
burnt engine oil.
How many kms have you done on the bike ???

If it's EFI it's high time to get the tuning re-checked. This isn't lean, lean usually results in the electrode being white in color, and mild brown is a good mixture, but this seems like oil fouled or too rich mixture. If it's oil fouled, check your piston and valves. Because if it's usually just fuel that's fouling, you might see lump like formation on the plug which is usually dry and powdery. If the plug is fouled and in anyway gooey or thick like mixed with oil, you can be sure it's oil that's getting fouled which are caused by worn piston rings.

But that's the worst case scenario, just get it checked at the SVC and see how it fares.

I have a 30k old Apache RTR 160. Till now, I am not sure if the service center guys have replaced the Spark Plugs or not. The bike is now having trouble starting the engine, I need to hit the kicker a lot to start the engine (Self start is dead long time back). Here is the few pictures of my spark plug. Can you guys have a look at this pictures and tell me does it look okay or do I need to replace them?

Your bike has done 30k on odo. So i suggest you to replace spark plug and air filter both. Buy original.
Other than this you should visit a good mechanic and get your carburetor cleaned thoroughly without tampering the AFR screw.
Also change engine oil with some good branded one.

The plug is good, apart from usual carbon deposit and I guess it's slightly on the richer side. If you bike is having cold start issues, replace the plugs, run the bike for some 100 kays, check the plug, because on a gunked up plug, it's hard to see on what mixture the bike is running.

Replace the plugs, then take a reading so it will give us a clear idea.

The spark plug in image posted is not visible properly. Though its condition looks good.
Check the tip if spark plug with this:
Brownish color= perfect
Black color- Rich mixture
White color- lean mixture
If not perfect then you need to tune AFR.
Apart from this what problems are you facing?

These are BOSCH plugs are the spark plugs looks good, at least from the side face. And just looking at the tip closely, I see that the plug is a tad whiter or the bike is running a little lean, but nothing to consider alarming. Looks good.
