Hello guys..

I would like to know about the alarm system which can be used in our bikes. I have unicorn. I think alarm for bikes are available. But i dnt knw how its working and all. I am from bangalore. Some of my friends told that alarm is very useful while we parking in unknown places and in night times..any suggestions??

Do any one have alarm in ur bike? and is useful?

yes i have that autocop system installed in my P200. Its very useful, specially in Mumbai to stay away from the RTO people..it cost me around 1200 including fitting and works only when the bike is in main stand...whenever u touch .. i mean when there is a mild vibration in ur bike it starts working..there is a chirp sound with both the indicators flashing. If u try to start the engine it wont start, still by any chance anybody managed to start the engine, engine will shutdown after some couple of minutes. It can be unlocked only by the key provided. Beware of rain/ water for the keys only.

There are quite a few alarm systems available in the market..
One such is available at Perfect Riders (Yamaha SVC) on Lalbagh Road here.. & it has the remote start option too.. Costs about 1500-1700 bucks.. Its certified by Pricol..

I have a Chinese Alarm System going by the name of "Policeman" ...

It has self start system (Even when the bike is off, and handle is locked)

Moreover, if anyone tampers with the bike in "Set on Arming" state, it will raise firstly a female voice, then siren noise ... and you have the option to set "Remove from Arming" too, in which case it won't raise a noise ...

I guess you should get one installed, even if it is just for fun, or there can be security reasons too ...

I know these alarms are quite good when it comes to security.
But dont they make a very embarrassing "please stay away from the vehicle" noise?

Hei ur Right......
Alarms are not that much necessary for bikes....Moreover it will kill your Bikes Battery.....
If a Child touches and see your Bike - the bike will alarm... and so thereby - everyone whomsoever passes by that way will touch your bike and go....(only in our INDIA this thing will happen)
I had Policeman Alarm fitted in my P200 and it costed me some totally 800 for this --- i removed it after few months itself - as everyone started to play with my bike

Advantages of Bike Alarm

1 - Security

Disadvantages :
1 - Battery Drain quickly
2 - Spend money for alarm and fitting charges
3 - Breakage of warranty if ur bike is under Company Warranty
4 - Playing with the electricals of your bike
5 - Annoying Sound Pollution
6 - Your bike will turn into a Play station for childrens

I need this to use only in night time and also if i go some unknown places. Last week my friends bike lost from bangalore. Its happend within 10mints.

Thats y i think about this device. Is it taking battery from vehicle itself? or extra battery???

I am thinking like purchase one alarm once i heared ur comments, from JC Road bangalore and give it to the showroom guys while i am giving for my next service.

I have an autocop alarm installed in the bike, in which you can choose different tones and volume for the siren . it also has the remote start feature and the siren goes off only when someone tries to start your bike or physically moves your bike. siren does not go off on touch. I own an apache Fi and faced no hassles in warranty. I have even got my fuel pump changed under warranty . the alarm cost me 1900 incl fitting. IT is very useful

Are you planning to give the ALARM to the Showroom guys and get it fitted....Dont even imagine HONDA to help you on this aspect.......maybe the dealer can help you if ur close to him......

Have you ever waited for any warranty claim from TVS - I hope no......
One of my friend is still waiting for a Fuel Level Indicator replacement under warranty for more than 3 months with HONDA......

The thing is i know one man out there in HONDA.. He is the mechanic there. So i used to call him from thr and giving bike for service. So he himself forced his superior to write his name in the place of mechanic. And thus i will give him tips in some times

Its an USUAL Scenario - this is the tachtique of many mechanics in each service centres - they pretend to treat our Bikes as their best ones - and get TIPS from us (not against anyone).....

In between the ALARM Controls are of many types - it depends on how much yuo spend ont it.......
There are branded alarms....local alarms....many types......
Branded alarms costs more and they provide Two Remote Controls for you.... and they have lesser noise - and also provides warranty.....
Local alarms costs less - provided only one remote control...produced unfair noises ---- no warranties of whatsoever...

It all depends upon where you fix the alarm(since you are very much eager to fix it go ahead) be with the mechanic when he is fixing the alarm......This is a very temptetive job....its a play with the electricals of the bike ---- ur bikes Tank and seat will be removed for this purpose ... and slicing and joining of wires will take place ( i really fear when they do this)

Many alarms has some inbuild fearutes like
1 - Bike identification (when u park ur bike in a busy parking area - u can find ur bike by pressing the button in remote control so that ur bike will emit light and also sound)

2 - Turn indicators - ur alarm can also be made sound at turnings - when u switch on ur turn indicators

3 - autostart feature - u can start ur bike with the start button in ur RC

..............................................

More of all im dam sure that u will remove ur Alarm with in few or more months after u fit it............

@thunder:-unfortunately i had to wait for my fuel pump for nearly 20 days but i thought honda was better in this aspect. Shocked to hear your friend waitng for more than 3 months for a small thing like fuel level indicator.

@rohitnair:- i think 1500-2000 is the normal rate .
