Yes, she's already decently old and that was my concern too. Any odd stuff now would only accelerate her aging process. I am sure that the iridium plugs generate more heat too - because of the higher combustion efficiency. But I don't have enough knowledge to conclude things here. I'd have happily gone for a Platinum plug but one of that model is not available in Platinum series

Here is my take then - if your engine is giving absolutely no noise - valves / piston / connecting rod then try the Iridium as your engine seems to be good. Else go for the regular one.

But first change ur spark plug from that stock one. It is very easy and can be done in less than 5 minutes by u with the took set given in the bike. Don't wait for service here.

u lost track of it here. The iridium plug is much more efficient & longer lasting than the platinum plug.

but my question is... "by how much margin" and "is the 350% more cost of the iridium plug over the platinum plug justified?"

yes. I see no harm other than to the wallet!

    good. u got it right.

So, it seems to be just a matter of budget.

I don't think using Iridium should spoil anything. If that is the case, platinum also maybe harmful.

As far as my understanding goes, it is because the spark plug also needs certain operating temp and plugs like the iridium ones are cool ones... useful for racing engines (may be we can read it as high-revving engines).

G-Power plugs are available for Rs 130 ... regular ones for Rs 65... the G-Power seems to be worth a try.
I have written to NGK asking the same questions. Yet to get a reply from them. I am planning to install Iridium IX Spark Plugs on my R15 as well as my F2.
For R15, Regular, GPower as well as Iridium IX are available,
but for F2, either it is the Regular or Iridium one!

Friends please share your inputs on using Iridium Spark Plugs on bikes other than R15.

P.S. KP, I've gone through the whole site. well i have i a Mach350 old one and i abs adore the bike, yes the bike needs attention but nothin a bike lover is not ready to indulge in. i cant talk bout the TBTS but anyone who owns a Bull will come to love all the tantrums it throws no matter how many ppl they have to support. also i dnt think a Bull will overheat that much after a 20 km ride, after all ppl have toured long and hard on it and have never complained of a Bull over-heatin. So i say go for it and dnt look back. but this is just my 2 paise[thot id be a little indian]

w r t Auto Loans, A F A I K, there are two or more banks involved - HDFC and Family Trust or something - which ask you to pay up 30k+ as initial and balance as EMI's and some other smaller banks are also involved which as 40% as initial deposit (40k+)

You don't need to run around Banks, instead visit a R E Showroom and they would guide you..

The waiting period differs from showroom to showroom, for instance the RE Besant nagar showroom ask for 1 month waiting period while the one in Anna nagar (southern motors) ask for a max 15 day waiting period.. If you personally know some one in some showroom, they can get you the ride within 10 days..

Check with all the R E Showrooms, call up and bug them or take a test ride in all the showrooms - see which one suits u better

    Good Luck!

    Hey Vinayaga,
I know nothing about Bullets. But I do know one thing, 'Money' and 'Care' to pamper any vehicle is a very good thing, but 'Time' is one entity that goes hand-in-glove with 'Money' and 'Care'. Sometimes, even directly proportional to each other! So be prepared for that too.

All said and done, I do pray you make the best decision.

    Regards,
    Joey
