I was thinking of installing a security system from autocop for my 220 which can be installed without cutting any wires so the warranty remains intact...can someone some light on this aspect...?

yea! i got this remote lock security from Autocop with hell lot of pre-defined and programmable features, WITHOUT ANY WIRES BEING CUT as that was one of my priorities. All in all, I'm very happy with it...

but trust me, only a remote lock is not enough. So i got myself a disk lock as well and i chain my ride to a metal ring that i got done in my garage and cemented it to the ground with a deep root...

i too had installed the autocop on my karizma ZMR.Its almost without wire cutting where the technician or installer cleverly installs jumpers and cut those jumpers instead of actual wiring. But,there is one actual wire cutting i.e the ignition wire if you want the remote start and switch off feature to be enabled.

Secondary locking for bike (except anti-theft locking system)

                  Hello,

Am planning to add a secondary lock to my bike. As i park my bike in safe areas 90% of the time i do not prefer to go with Anti-theft locking system.

Pls provide inputs on manual locks like Chain Locks with rubber cover on them. Also provide inputs on brands, strength of the lock, opening mechanism (keys or number combination) for chain locks.

Nothing beats the peace of mind; if you want a security with PEACE OF MIND go for disc alarm lock - Xena. Period!!! I was laughing within when I saw people surrounded my bike but were cautious enough not to touch & they were saying among themselves not to touch as the alarm would go off. Had Xena not been there, I wouldn't have slept in peace in my RJ trip!!!

Correct. Is there any place in chennai where i can buy those in person. ?

Since i am going to park very less in public areas i was interested for the cheap and easy methods

How long do the batteries last in Xena ? Also throw some light on other manual disc locks!!

Why not ask if it available in your local neighborhood
You can buy through e-bay India & would cost about Rs 6.5K; I'm sure you wouldn't be interested for that price!!!

How about fastening your bike to lamp pole with a bungee chord

Frankly I don't know; the battery costs hardly Rs 50 or so; I'll be happy to replace every year but again, depends on how many times the alarm goes off everyday.

Bike security when you're out and about

For those of you who have "exotic" bikes (imported/superbikes/etc), how do you address security? What do you do to protect your bike when you're out at the restaurant or cinema? Do you carry a security chain with you? If you carry a chain, how do you deal with the extra weight and bulk? (And by chain, I mean something like the big OnGuard or Kryptonite motorcycle security chains that weigh over 7kg) Have an alarm? If an alarm, how do you stop a thief from lifting the whole thing into a van and unwiring the alarm later?
