    Road Accidents / Insurance claims

We had a debate about youngsters below the age of 30 getting into accidents more...
So one of my friends was like yamaha gets totalled more since youngsters take into the brand and the most of their products are meant for that age group (read R15,FZ/S,SZ,Fazer) .. I was like hero motocorp since being India's No.1 Manufacturer naturally would have more bikes totalled ... So we went on for a visit to both SVC to check out in person and whoa there were more R15's totalled than FZ and Fazer combined ... We all know R15 rarely gets picked up by a 30 yr plus due to its sporty riding stance...

Thereby in this thread we would like to dig into more on Road accidents, major causes , age group, insurance claims, parts availability according to manufacturers and even about how manufacturers deal with colors (Some bikes like the karizma do have the same colours unchanged but FZ/Fazer gets updated every half year or so)

      Approved and merged!

The main reason for most accidents is the rider (or driver in case of 4 wheelers). Money doesn't buy people senses.
Even parents are at fault to an extent. They gift their kids an expensive bike, but hardly stress on helmet, leave alone other safety gear!

I have seen educated IT folk carrying their kids dangerously dangling on bikes. What do you expect a child will learn? Last week, a woman with her kid in her lap in a Hyundai i10 was jumping the signal and when confronted (by me) on the correct side of traffic, showed the finger and raced ahead! What will the child learn?

It's high time that the so called 30 year olds take the initiative for safe road mannerisms and maybe in a few centuries....
      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

        Re: Accidents in India

Actually, the main cause of accidents are the rider/driver themselves. We can say in India conditions are unpredictable, but the thing is that the mentality of people is that they can get away with anything. They jump signals and don't care about anything and even if they are stopped by cops, they shove 200₹ to their face and continue their rampage. Same thing with speeding and parking.
Education is there about helmets and other safety gear, but people want 'style' before safety.

And we can't totally blame parents for buying expensive bike for their children. Even i was in 11th standard when i got my first bike (r15) 6years back. But i was always instructed to wear a helmet and this became a part of my life and being responsible rider was the first thing i was made to understand.

Counting the number of crashed bikes shows the reckless behavior of the rider.

        Ride safe and have fun.
        Regards
        Nadeem

What about my question regarding manufacturers ?? Does Yamaha have more bikes under insurance claims than Hero motocorp ?? Since yamaha product portfolio targeting mainly youngsters ??
One of my friends fazer got into a crash with an auto and the SVC is asking for 3 months plus... They say the parts are are hard to get since the color being for the 2010 model ...

The question you have put up is wrong my dear friend.. it is not about manufacturers.. accidents happen with any fool behind the wheels.. I have seen silly accidents to fatal accidents in front of my eyes.. Careless fools going behind a truck and the point to stress here is.. that idiot was riding while speaking on the phone and not wearing a helmet.. He died on the spot.. this was on a Bajaj Discover 135.. basically in India, accidents are because of senseless idiots..

How did the "Rural Development Minister" of India die?? Wasn't it due to negligence in driving? The driver jumped the Red Signal and boom, the guy who was free to go with Green light hit the car and he died.. Not sure if this made sense

now, coming to the Insurance claim stuff.. its true about the color schemes.. I used to have a "Pearl Composed Red" ZMA and I wanted to change the fairing as it had a crack and it was rattling.. I couldn't find the color scheme anywhere as that color was discontinued.. after like a month, they called me and said they have only one side in stock.. and again after another month, they called again and got me the side I wanted..

after one year, I had to change the Front Fender and guess what, the color was no where available.. I had to get a black color and fit it and it looked awkward
