Anytime mate..those cans look hot , just as i saw on its website. they should serve you for a year atleast ..
Since its a cleaning spray just spray it on chain by rotating wheel by hand under no condition start bike . After lubing the chain , let it sit for a while say 30min and then drive bit around , the extra oil will automatically get flinged off.

Nothing replaces a mechanical cleaning. All theses help to loosen out the caked grim and oil better so that your work becomes less tedious.

i wudnt say that if i were u.
here's the procedure i follow before i set out on any out-station ride &/or every 30 days.
1. have a pair of old tooth-brushes ready.
2. center-stand ur ride so that the rear wheel is ready for a spin when u put her in 1st cog w/ engine running. for rides w/ no center-stand, use the elevated ramp so that the rear wheel is free from ground-traction.
3. liberally spray the 'cleaning solution' on the chain & sprocket assembly while the rear wheel rotates... i use a liberal dose of WD-40.
4. while the wheel rotates, use the toothbrush to brush-clean the grime / muck / etc. off the chain & the sprocket.
5. once the chain is free of the grime, spray the WD-40 again & repeat step #4 with another cleaner tooth-brush.
6. kill the engine - wheel rotation will stop - use a clean cotton cloth to wipe-clean the chain & the sprocket assembly - use the manual turning of wheel to clean all portions of the chain - be careful on not letting any cotton strands getting stuck in the sprockets.
7. fire-up the engine & engage the first cog again
8. carefully spray the chain-lube on the area where the sprocket cogs & the chain are intertwined with each other - reason is, u will have minimal wastage of the lube & any lube that spills-over, shall end up in a residue on the sprocket & eventually slip-over in to the cogs. kill the engine switch - allow the lube to work its wonder while the ride rests.
9. responsibly trash the old toothbrushes [unless u want to reuse them - clean them in a healthy portion of petrol / kerosene - allow to dry off & they r fit to be reused again]

Yours is a method that is time tested and proved. I think this is the best thing to whatever chain lube hit the market. As I said before nothing can beat a mechanical cleaning. These cleaners all act as an agent to make the procedure easy.
But I WON'T RECOMMEND your steps 2 and 7 as its dangerous, lot of people have injured themselves in this process.
The safe bet is to engage the gear in neutral and rotate the wheel manually so that injury can be avoided.

On Which bike do you use this process??? WD 40 is not adviceable to be used on O-ring chains. though what you say is logical, but it lessens the life of the o ring and in turn the chain.

Just a noob query .......... how can I clean/brush the front sprocket, I am asking this because it must be having the same amount of grime/muck as the rear sprocket ............ do I need to remove the panel over the front sprocket too while performing the chain cleaning ??

I see you have a stunner , so a 8mm T-spanner is needed to remove front sprocket cover . It had much more grime than rear when i cleaned mine bike`s chain.

sorry.., not aware whether wd40 reduces the lifespan of the o-rings or not -

It seems that WD 40 has a dislike for rubber parts, as its the same with most of the petroleum products and rubbers.

In fact many people might not be skilled like you. The problem is that a second's carelessness can end up the fingers in sprocket. Unless somebody is nearby you retrieving the fingers too will be a difficult task.

Yes I quiet agree on the fact that its best to manually rotate the wheel visa-viz fire up the engine. I would like to mention that a mug of steaming water with an old tooth brush can replace the use of oil in cleaning the sprockets, by this method you by no way damage the O rings.

I have been using Motul chain cleaner for sometime now and its absolute wonder to use. After spraying the chain cleaner, i rotate the wheel and clean the chain with a piece of cloth. Tried using the toothbrush and found that, it could not clean the chain properly. So, switched to cloth for cleaning.

Will using cloth have any effect on the chain? Hope any damage is not done to it Some guru gyan on this please :beer:

Use a soft or medium toothbrush so that the bristles are flexible and can reach the through all the links properly

PS the same principle applies for the toothbrush you select for your teeth

Will using cloth have any effect on the chain?

Using cloth can lead to improper cleaning of your chain which results in the lodgment of hardened oil and dirt which will in turn reduce the chain life.

I found the chain got cleaned better with the use of cloth. With toothbrush, the brush turned just black with improper cleaning. The Motul cleaner works very well. It removes the gunk and hard stuff easily without any issues (personal view).
