@hydbiker: I have no objections with Honda oil but i just want to change and try other brands. But i want to clarify if semi-synth oil can be used in Activa as it being gearless? If its possible, will go for Gulf pride 4t. Can someone tell me if this gulf oil comes in 20w40 specs. Otherwise i will try Yamalube or Motul 3000t mineral oils.

Can any bangy guys tell where i can look for the Motul and Gulf. I was told that Gulf is pretty difficult to find in 20w40. Also their approx.prices please?

Srinath gulf pride plus is pretty good its a semisynthetic oil, it can pretty much withstand till 2.5 to 3k kms.

Can last much more than that.. it took some good beating in my Victor and was still very good at 4K and Activa's engine doesn't heat up as much as a Victor!

HydBiker could u plz tell me where did u buy gulf pride in hyderabad and are u sure that the shop sells genuine oils

The Pride semi synths are difficult to duplicate but you never know the jadoo guys. I picked them from Metro. Where do u stay? One guy in KPHB has stock. You can call Mr Anil from Gulf Oil @ 9849354209

HOW IS IT'S QUALITY.....n how it'll perform on my NEW RTR160...which got 2 be 2nd SERVICED in a day or two...

Pls wait until ur 3rd service and then change over from the Mineral Oils. Well,. unless u have ripped the bike hard already. For knowing which one can be better, please check earlier posts in this thread.. I have posted properties fo Fuly Synth oils and explanation on what each property means... you can collect data for both the oils u want and then compare.

Gulf Pride is available in 20w40 also. Gulfoilindia.com... check the contacts, there's a South India Marketing Manager or so in Blr with contacts mentioned... call him up or email him. He'll respond quickly for sure.

Shortage of Motul 5100

guys. I'm residing in new delhi and in need of motul 5100 15w50. Delhi dealer said that due to shortage of demand, they are not having any supplies of this oil.
If anyone nearby New delhi having the location dealing with 5100motul and its availability, do let me know.

I had a preview of Petronas Sprinta 5000 in my RTR. Bike is damn smooth to ride. I had given my bike for servicing 2 days back and as of now only the engine work has been done. Vibe issues are yet to be sorted out. Even though my bike now feels butter smooth

Vibrations has reduced drastically between 4.5-5.5k rpm. But the engine has become silent now....man i miss the Tappet sound now Got to ride the bike for abt 7kms from my home to office. SVC supervisor is a friend of mine. he got it home for me to have a test ride!

P.S - I have used Gulf semi synthetic on my splendor......its was still good when i drained it at 3.5k kms......and it was still very good!

Brought the Veedol Super Swift synthetic blended 10W40. MRP on bottle 305/-. Dealer quoted 280, then he said on the inner side of the cap there is a discount coupon[very strange that the discount thing is not mentioned on the bottle], he said it could be a sum between 10 to 50 bucks, u can open the bottle and check it, I did, it was 20 bucks. So finally I got the bottle for 260 bucks. yet to change the oil though.

I got a mail from Gulf regarding details of Gulf pride 4t plus 20w40 for my Activa. They said that 20w40 is a mineral oil and not semi synthetic. Will try it in the next service.

Having read through the entire thread (ok ok I am lying, but yes, a majority of it :P) I think I need to change from Power 1 to something else primarily because of three things: 1. bike dont feel very smooth after a few 100 kms after servicing 2. gear shifts become harder 3. vibrations and lots of them over long distances.

Having got my bike checked for various things, I think its time i try a new engine oil.

I think I would want to go with a fully synthetic oil but not eggjactly sure which one?
I was thinking of the PETRONAS Sprinta 4T 5000 (10w40). Is it wise to go for this oil? or should i settle for Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20w40 or MOTUL 5100 4t 15w40?
Want to stay away from castrol for the time being.

And oh yes I own a Pulsar 150 UG2.

Hi there...

My 1yr old Unicorn has finished all it’s regular free servicings… I’m now looking to get the bike serviced through my own mechanic and not the Honda Service Centre since quality of service there has been slow detoriating. Since I do not have much technical knowledge about automobiles… I wanted to know which oil would me the best oil suited for my bike…

My friend (who owns a P150) suggested the “Motul 5100 4T 15W50”. Would that suit my bike?

Or should I go for “Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40”? Or is there any other better brand in the same price range (approx 400 bucks)?

And I would also like to know what’s the difference in Normal, Semi-Synthetic and Full-Synthetic Oils … in terms of performance, mileage, life of the engine etc.

Anybody in Chandigarh with whom I can find a mineral oil by Motul. I would be needing a 15W50 or 20W50 for my bike, but a mineral oil. Please let me know whatever be the case.

xw50 grade is too thick for the honda.stick with the xw40 grade.petronas 50004t sprinta full synthetic costs around 330rs is the cheapest full syn oil u can get.I am using for the past 4000km.performance is good.Motul 30004t is the best mineral based oil u can get.
