its ok kind of oil. Gets smoother with use but won't be smooth enough after 1500-1600 kms (at least for me). I sincerely recommend yamalube as it gives slightly better performance & costs almost same.Originally posted by Mzee_Maverik View Post

No you cannot. Because r15 needs an higher yy grade in xxWyy . It's strict to have atleast 40 or 50 here. So any grade like 10w40, 10w50, 15w50, is fine.Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostI am planning to shift to FS oil for my R15V2's 3rd servicing. I had Motul in mind but only today came to know that Honda throttle 10W30 costs only 500 per liter! Can I use the same for my R15?

hello Xb(hp)rothers
Because of the increased petrol prices my bike (Suzuki SS+) is more or less grounded,i used to go to college on it on a daily basis but now it is going to be reduced short(<4km) trips.
The company recommended oil is 20W40,now is it safe to use Gulf FS economy oil which is 10W30?
How about riding 30 kms(15+15) once in a while?Invitation link to join Zurker Beta, "A social network which you can own"

I would advise you to stick to 20w40 unless you have a reason to change the engine oil grade.Originally posted by Rashid View Posthello Xb(hp)rothers

Absolutely not. Just use the normal 20w40 mineral oil.Originally posted by Rashid View Posthello Xb(hp)rothers

if you want to use for a 15 min ride at low speeds... Yes, you can put a 10w30 in a 20w40.. as the oil will not thin to w30 viscosities and you will shut diwn the engine.Originally posted by Rashid View Posthello Xb(hp)rothers

But i didnt get your point.. You are stopping riding because of rising petrol prices and trying to put a 300 rs oil.. Why not a 20w40 mineral of 220 bucks and ride a complete 3000 kms on it.. And the money you save(rs 80) is good enuf for 10 litres of price hike in petrol..
Guys i have some good info for you..
I have found an oil which you can keep for more than 10,000 kms in a motorcycle.. (gulf 4t also claims tne same).. Actually you can keep this oil for 700 hours.. i.e if you move 25kms in an hour, you can keep it for 17500 kms!! Its really hard to believe but this is what is proven on heavy duty diesel engines.. It can even go to 900 hours operation in these high temperature furnaces like engines.
The oil is called Mobil Delvac Super 1300. For heavy duty diesel engines. Also qualifies API SJ ratings for petrol/gasoline engines. Though one would say its not JASO qualified.. But it can very well be used in motorcycle engines as no friction modifiers are added..
There are numerous bike owners in the US who use this oil in their motorbikes and no complaints whatsoever.. I have bought a five litre can for myself and will be testing it next time.. The listed price was 1455 but i got it in 1300.. Comes 260 rs per litre...
Its known as the million mile oil !!
Some reading needs to be done here
Also read the comments of experts on this kind of oil.. Especially Mobil Delvac 1300 Super.
Any comments?Last edited by muztariq; 06-07-2012, 12:28 AM.

Not very good , you can get much better for the same money . Honda_cbf is right , as per feedback from users I know here the only shell oils worth considering are AX7 and Ultra .Originally posted by Mzee_Maverik View Postsir what about shell ax5 20w40(yellow bottle)??? is it any good? thinking to go with it as it is readily available here in lucknow
The oil is excellent, it's similar to Shell's rotella .. works very good on both diesel fleets and petrol as well as motorcycle engines . Moreover it has extra detergents and shall pretty much flush your engine very clean . But surely don't run it for more than 3000kms(or 4 months) max . That's because diesel or not , that mileage rating by exon-mobil is for car/truck engines . Unlike motorcycles, those engines do not run the engine oil through the transmission and are water cooled . Moreover I don't think they really encountered our fuel-quality,air-quality,ambient-temperatures,road-conditions,traffic,service-facilities etc etc during their testsOriginally posted by muztariq View PostGuys i have some good info for you .. .
I too am not getting your logic here . I am using the bike more to save fuel costs and you are grounding it for the same reasons ??!! Surely don't fill 10w30 grade oil (synthetic or not) in a bike rated for 20w40 and in this summer heat too ! What's the fuel mileage on your suzuki SS+(slingshot+ ?) .Originally posted by Rashid View Posthello Xb(hp)rothers

hi everyone i own a pulsar150 UG4.5 14,000Kms done on the odo.
Yesterday i drained the engine oil and found it to be just around 400-500ml !!
and i think this was the reason my bike was heating very much even for small distances.
As i recall the oil which i used was elf motogold .
I would like to mention that the bike did 4000kms on this oil and there was no leaking from engine head or drain bolt.
please suggest me a good 20w50 grade engine oil.
i have experimented with
*elf motogold-20w40(hard gearshifts and lasts <3000Kms)
*bajaj10,000-20w50(worst of all,the bike felt rough and clutch and gearshifts were horrible)(not to mention it cost way more than any engine oil i've purchased)
*castrol power1 15w40 (bike heats up pretty quick not recommended for long rides and under heavy city traffics, but the bike used to sound the best and i loved the crisp sound
)
*castrol gtx 20w50 (this is the first oil any dealer would suggest if you demand a 20w50 grade, his next favourite being power1 especially for pulsars)
(however this oil was the best in terms of smoothness and performance, downside being a car engine oil it kills the clutch and results in clutch slippage)
the time i bought this i did not knew about jaso-ma standards.
I live in lucknow and the oil dealers are limited, they have stocks of castrol and shell mostly.
there is no chance of getting motul here.
i tried getting the mak4t-nxt but the petrol pumps had only the 900ml bottle.
please do suggest a good engine oil under Rs.500 as i'm currently a student and the petrol prices are already a burden on pocket.

Try finding Shell Advanced in 20w50 if its there. It works great for RTRs (in 10w40 grade) but don't now if its available in XXw50 grade too.Originally posted by V!RU$ View Post@garry thanx man

R15 in the states
I have read the info about the oil for 4 stroke wet clutch bikes, good stuff. I am learning a great deal on this site. Just to confirm if I can't find some of the brands that you guys have in India I can go with 10/40 fully synthetic motorcycle oil jaso ma? Is this correct? Thanks again for the info.
