why you shouldnt use a thick oil when the recommendation is of a thinner oil.
    1. Cold starts on a thick oil is like torturing the engine... Oil just doesnt start flowing.. An oil pump designed for a 10w30 may not push a 20w50 with the same efficiency.
    2. Clearances gets wider.. The places where a thinner oil may have got faster, a thicker oil gets there slower and metal to metal contact happens.. Leading to widening of clearances.. Start off with the grade mentioned in your manual and when the clearances widens with time, go to a higher grade. (no options for w50 recommendations.. W60 is not available)
    3. Mileage decreases
    4. Read more about blanket formation in engine.. Its a phenomenon wherein the thick oil doesnt leave the walls of the engine and a blanket is formed inside the engine.. Hot freely flowing oil at the centre.. Thick cold oil on the walls.. Happens more with thick oils.
    5. 20w50 has more VIIs than 20w40. I dont need to explain this to an expert :-)

its the quality of oil that matters the most.. Motul, shell, gulf, elf, mobil 4t, Servo 4t ... ok valvoline too (havent used it, but read some good reviews of this brand) are some good oils in the market.

Well, I totally agree to the points mentioned by you. But the problem with 20w40 (only in April & may) is that oil burns/evaporate pretty quick (in my bike ). Low mark (on the dip stick) will reach in ~700kms.
And another thing is min and max temps used to range from 35ish to 45ish and for such elevated temps, there's a provision for W50.
Yet another observation was no cold start problem.
P.S. My bike is recommended for 20w40. Post 2010-2011 Honda bikes ask for 10w30.

zma enjoys motul 3000 4t plus which is available in 20w40. There's a motul 3100 4t plus also which is 10w30.

Go ahead. Its really a good. But you can feel slight sluggishness in lower rpms compared to 10w30.

this is the best oil money can buy for your bike(here in india).. Keep it for atleast 5000 kms.. Keep a check on the oil levels.
These oils start getting vapourised after 3000 kms.. Topping up with a mineral of 20w40 from motul is good enuf.

there is no harm in putting an fs but the purpose of filling it should be clear..
If you have a smooth ride and riding normally.. A good mineral is sufficient.
Why pay three times the price when your purpose is getting solved by a lesser value product.

even the shopkeeper suggest 300v for longer use as it is fs and quite expensive
but in reality it is a racing performance oil and not meant to last very long so 5000 kms is too much. so better to use it a regular ss oil. and check for oil levels too.

No, its short lived in racing but very very long lasting in normal 150cc - 200cc bikes.. Gulf mineral 20w40 lasts upto 10,000 kms in a motorcycle.. These oils can do that easily, but topping up is so frequent that using them any longer than 5000 kms is not advisable.. Guys have been using them for 7000 - 8000 kms normally.

Please don't give false promises. Mineral oil or not, any engine oil for wet clutch bikes are good for a certain start/stop cycle where oil gets hot and cold. It slowly looses its properties over time. Surely minerals don't last 8k km in anyway. U are just stretching ur bikes engines limit, in most case it can also cause premature wear of engine!

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

but we drain it as per our bikes manual recommendation!!

Why cant a synthetic run 5000 km then.

You are just MISUNDERSTANDING and CONFUSING it all.
