    @PSR'ji,
How many kms have you clocked yet on the oil. Any niggles popping up or anything to look out for??
What I am doing is distinctly an EXPERIMENT....Please go through the previous pages and posts for details......Use of Diesel oils in Petrol engines may not work out for everyone.....

    • Diesel oils in Motorcycle is worth an experiment. My experiment was successful to the extent that I will not be using any other oil in my fazer ever.

Yes it is...elsewhere unknowingly an owner had used Rimula in a FZ new bike, and now wonders why the recommended oil is not giving the experience the Rimula did... In other World the Shell Rotella is used for both Diesel and Petrol engines. But as in all experiments, there is risk involved and it is better that the user is aware and not blame others for it....

        • Having a keen eye on this thread and waiting for psr sir to complete that 1000 miles figure with the Rimula. Till then, I'm using Mobil1.

I checked your early posts & found that you faced no issues yet. Hence am planning to use the oil. The bike has clocked a good 27000 kms (7000 kms with the bigbore kit) so I hope there wont be any issues. And yes I do know the fact that am going to try the oil on my own risk.

I would be looking for delvac too. But my only concern being its availability. Moreover my oil change comes nearly once in 5 months, so i wonder if an open 5l oil can be stored for that long. Nonetheless I will try the delvac if i manage to find one.

Since you say that you will experiment knowingly...the Rimula R3X is a mineral oil meant for Diesel engines and comes in both 15w40 and w50 grades...It does not contain any friction modifiers, but contains ZDDP of 1~2 % which is good for drive train.....
The sulphated ash content should be less than 1.2 whereas the R3X has 1.44...marginally high...though I have not seen any detrimental effect in the past 700 Kms so far...
Here is a link to the Rimula R3X MSDS which gives other vital data including ZDDP content level...Note the Kinematic viscosity at 40 C and 100 C ..it is very less, and also the TBN is above 10

Okay.. Can't hold myself now. R3X will easily exceed 1k mile mark, i.e. 1600km Actually it lived for for than 2k kms in my bike. Just change it because it was at 2k mark. Even at 2k kms it felt perfectly ok. No increase in vibes. Gears were engaging perfectly w/o any abnormal feel or noise. Engine noise also felt normal or may be lower!. Currently using valvoline champion 20w40, can feel the heavy gears with this oil. Have also used gulf GTD & shell helix HX6. All felt good. Helix HX6 was worst lasted only ~1900kms then I can hear the noisy engine. Till then it was good.

                    • Heard that Valvoline's synthetic Blends are not As pure as Expected
                      Infact same like mineral oils.

all semi synth or synthetic blend which costs less than 300 are like that. Actually they only contain negligible amount of those synthetic thing. So basically they are still mineral oil. Btw, valvoline oils are pretty good. Great I'd say

Ha ha ha I thought You would also do the experiment..Do not use Helix HX 6 it is meant for cars........
In the discussions I had read on many forum and threads on the internet on the Shell Rotella, I was amazed how Rotella was a multipurpose oil with Good Performance.....and I also read that in places where Rotella was not marketed Rimula was marketed....there was speculation that both were same, which was not the case...The Sulphated ash, Kinematic Viscosity etc, were all different between them......and Rotella has many variants...
But what was stunning was the fact that the Rimula R3X had triple protection same as Rotella T, and the Kinematic Viscosity was very close to a Fully Synthetic oil meant for gasoline engine......the Viscosity Index was also good, and so was the pour temperature and Flash temp...not forgetting the ZDDP content.......Once I started reading the details ,on paper, technically the Rimula R3X impressed me as better than the normal mineral oil...so instead of trying the usual JASO MA certified Mineral oil I went in for this experiment.....
Still I am not fully accepting the Rimula ,though it is proving to be better than Motul ,and Gulf Pride mineral oils.....If it holds the same properties till 1,500 kms, I may not be looking for any other oil for my ZMA.

+1 can vouch for Valovoline, personally.

Honestly psr ji, I just wanted to trim your post above to type my post, but every word was so perfect, that it'd be barbaric to edit any single word. I happen to do my homework quite a while back, and I was surprised to see that Rotella indeed had many variants, and that stirred up a plethora of questions, but you've nailed it to single point.

How many KMS has the ZMA clocked till now ji after using the Rimula

BTW I happen to read this on Wikipedia

Shell Rotella T 15W-40 conventional oil does list on its packaging JASO MA as one of the specifications it meets. Note that the 10W-30 conventional oil does not list JASO-MA.
The newer fully synthetic T6 5W-40 oil lists JASO-MA compliance on its packaging and on the Rotella website.

                            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            • Got the oil changed to shell rimula R3x. Bottle costed me Rs.269/-. Just rode a km or two after the oil change so i shall refrain from commenting anything. Shall give update soon how the oil fares on normal commuting.
