Ok... will check out if I can get the Petronas 5000-4T Sprinta Full Synthetic Oil...

However, in this same post I have noticed that some owners have experience oil leakage problems with synthetic oil...

So is it safe to go with synthetic oil??

Should I get the semi-synthetic oil from Petronas i.e.: 4000-4T Sprinta

I also do not understand... how can synthetic oil cause leakage problems??

u can use the full synthetic petronas without any problem in the unicorn. All i had seen are leakage problems in pulsars that too when they used 300v full synthetic.

      • I was planning to buy the 4000-4T Sprinta as well but was worried about the leakage issues with synthetic oil in pulsars as I have a Pulsar 150 UG2.

        • ^^^ Pls go ahead and do that favour to your bike... get the semi synth or synth oil (Sprinta 5000 4T is dirt cheap and working very good)... the leakage problems in Pulsars are seen with the 300V that uses double ester technology.

BTW, Guys, I found something interesting y'day.

Hero Honda Engine Oil is no more exclusively supplied by Idimetsu / Savita Chemicals. Bhrat Petroleum Mak is also bottled in as Hero Honda Oil.

It seems the propcess started about an year ago but off late the Mak oil is coming out more than the Idimetsu oil. The dealer said it seems there were irregularities with teh supply of oil from Idimetsu and hence HH switched to Mak from BP and then off last most stock is coming from BP though the bottles from Idimetsu can be got on and off.

He even said that this oil is not good.. in fact as good as Mak itself and people who used to buy HH oil from him regularly have switched to other brands.

          • Engine oil for TVS Fiero F2?

Which is the engine oil would you suggest for Fiero F2. Bike has run 47K kms and used only TVS engine oils when given for servicing. My bike has problem of engine oil leak! I'm considering Petronas 5000-4T Sprinta Full Synthetic Oil.How is its performance. Where can i get it in Bangalore and does it cause oil leak the same as now?

            Thanks,
            Ramki.

            • which oil to use

can u guys suggest me a good oil for my hh hunk.....
              usage:
i use the bike for daily commuting i.e. 85 kms.Tough i take break in between both morning n evening. But still feel i should use another oil against company offered 10w30 grade because it turns dark jus after 800-900kms.

n also comment on will synthetic oil be more useful in engine protection for my long riding conditions. What r the best options in _w40 grade?

                • HydBiker,

HH oils have been sold at BPCL pumps for over 4 years. Or is this only 10W30 you're speaking of?

                  • Finally after a lot of hunting I managed to find a veedol dealer in Bangalore, bought [Tau's most recommended oil ]the super swift 10W40 semi-synth oil. MRP quoted was 305 Rs, dealer said pay 280 and then on the inner side of the cap there was another 20 bucks discount[this is not mentioned on the bottle]. So the final price I paid was 260. I have ridden around 500 kms with this oil, and every time I take the bike out it gets me a big smile on my face. Gear shifts have improved, mileage too, so too the pickup. I got to say this is the most under rated oil in the country.

I would rate this oil to be on par with the Motul 300V or even slightly better keeping in mind that the Motul costs more than twice this oil.

I would advise everyone to give it a try, is def worth it.

Note :- Special thanks to Hitanshu for bringing this oil to everyones notice here[not sure if the others have noticed, but I have ].

                      • 10W40 ? But Motul 300V is W50.

Are you using it for the P180 ?

                        • Raghu,

Thanks a ton. But the real one who used it was santa - I just pointed it out originally!

I've been faithful to the 20W50, and frankly, VP4T/Turbostar both are decent enough (former is MUCH easier to source, and I've stopped running after oils!) for my usage!

I mean, its hilarious how much trouble we guys wring ourselves into over oils. I'd shift to Servo and change it every 1000km if I could. Not that the (essentially) unrefined Bajaj engine can get much worse

                          /runs for cover
/chill - don't gimme gyan. I know my pulsie and how refined the V2s are!

Yes. I remember I bought HH oil from BPCL outlet twice... the latest was in Mid 2007 for Rs 140 - 900ml. That bottle was from Savita Chemicals and was not Mak. Also, not many BPCL outlets stock anything other than Mak.

Of course, I donlt have every detail with me... I posted in what ever I found out.

BTW, Voodoo, Motul 300V is now available in 10W40 also. Was posted in this thread earlier and saw it in a shop in Hyd last Saturday for Rs 700.

If you can get an Idemitsu / Savita chemicals bottles HH oil or otherwise the Honda Oil, use it. they are good. Same is the case with YamaLube.

For both 10w30 or 20w40 grade, Gulf Pride 4T Plus is one great oil you can buy with your money...

Wanna go Synthetic, read this thread from Post #1

Got the Petronas 4000-4T Sprinta Semi-Synthetic Oil... since the Petronas 5000-4T Sprinta Full Synthetic Oil was not available anywhere...

Just got a couple of more doubts...

                                - Does the Unicron require 1.0 ltr or 1.2 ltrs when changing the engine oil? My mechanic told me 1.2ltrs but the manual says 1ltr when draining and 1.2 ltrs after disassembly. So who's correct here??

                                - Secondly notice another Oil at the Petronas outlet... called as Petronas Sintium or something?? How thats oil??
