Hi All,
I have TVS Apache rtr 160. it has run for 2500kms. Can you plz tell me when can i change the engine oil to semi synthetic oil ? Also which oil will be good for apache 160.

Changing to SS/FS oil is absolutely fine.

Motul, Gulf, Shell are good oils. But, motul is a gem for bike.

How far does kerosene serve in cleaning a Drive chain? Safe using kerosene?
I do clean my Fz16's Drive chain with kerosene & a tooth brush, it removes dirt like SurfExcel.

Pinaki and Muzz referenced it spot on. Mind you the rubber rings are very life saviors of the chain as all the makes them last longer depends on these little puny rubber rings. And pinaki ji is super spot on the pressure washing deformity, I happen to read it somewhere too, just ringed the bells for me.

DO NOT USE FORCE when brusing, it's better to rinse stubborn gunk them and wipe off with "waste" proper waste as I do, as brusing makes the rings weaker and the rest is history with time.

How about Castrol active extra or Castrol power1??

You can start using SS at around 3000 KMS and there is nothing detrimental whatsoever. Apache the one my friend uses 180 RTR he uses the Castrol Power 1 Racing and it's been going good.

Absolutely you can, indeed it's the right interval to drain the engine oil for the maximum juice out of the oil, unless you're crazy enough like to extend it too 5.8k but mind it it was still good, and that depends on a lots of factors.

If you can source 7100 FS that'd be even more better, but for now 5100 is the best bet you can go for.

I am sure this Question must have surfaced here a zillion times, but i wasnt able to find an answer in the thread or dint search properly.

I have 1L of Motul 7100 for refilling my P220, and the sump as we all know is 1.2L

Now I have half a liter of Elf Full Synth Oil of the same grade. so I am assuming that I can borrow the 200Ml from the Elf and add it to the 1L of Motul.. Isn't that OK ?


**OFFTopic - Either the bike manufacturers needs to have standard sump sizes or the Oil makers need to bring out non standard bottles :P

What are the viscometrics of both the oils? Since the oil filter takes up some amount of oil, the sump size is this way.

200 ML with a combination of 1 liter, chemically isn't going to alter much. Though both are same grade, the antioxidants present in Motul and Elf maybe different, but that the one which has larger volume wins, and in this case Motul 7100.

In your case, you can use with no problem whatsoever. Just go for the right grade, and don't mix with 40 with 50 as such.

Can be used. Hope the other oil is not very old. Also, i would suggest you to fill in with motul and see whether you require more oil or not.

Friends, where can i get Motul 7100 10w40 in chennai. one of xphp frnd suggested me adayar lubricant. They said, this particular grade is not available. Also searched in most of the shop in GP road, Rayapettai. No where it is available. Please suggest me
