Hey guys for a while back i was in tamil nadu where i tried valvoline 10w30 sae ss engine oil. of what i remember it came in silver colored plastic container. the performance of my passsion Xpro was too good while on that. but then i came to mumbai and presently living in western suburbs. i have been trying to find that e oil for a long time and as the time to change my bike's oil nears i am planning on using valvoline again. can anyone help me locate ay dealers where i might get this as petrol pumps dont have this and i have already exhausted my options of finding one.

As cold season has arrived and your engine is new, I will suggest you to buy:
1. Shell advance ax7- semi-synthetic(10w40)
MRP around Rs.360
Good during winters.
Or
2. Motul 5100 semisynthetic (15w50)
MRP. Around Rs.550
Good during summer season

Its a amazing oil at least for karizma. Engine feels much smoother and lasts up to 2500-3000kms

Yes, it doesn't it will leak on all bikes but yes most bikes, older gen bikes, the newer age ones do tend to keep up with it. A brand new 2012 Apache leaking, a 220 leaking etc, all depends on luck and sometimes the engine gasket itself. But glad to know that your steed never leaks, happy for you.

saket, you can consider using Shell AX7 or use Agip both are very good oils and takes abuse really good.

Hey Diesel Oil users.. it seems like we have a new product (or may be the same product with different name) I'm talking about Shell Rimula T3, packaging is identical to Rimula R3x but specs are little different. Here's a snap of the T3's specs..

And here's the specs of R3X..

what say guys.. is this new T3 usable in our wet clutch machines?? I guess it is

First of all welcome back.. was waiting for a post from you - Where have you been?

Regarding the oil, I am happy to see a API-SJ recommendation on the oil. Atleast it is usable in petrol vehicles, which was not listed in earlier Rimula versions.

I also assume it is 15w40 oil. The website fails to mention that. Cant say whether it is better than the earlier versions for bike usage.

My bike has run 1000 km only in the last 7 months. I am in dilemma whether to change the oil or not. Mobil Delvac Super 1300 15w40 still inside. No clutch slipping even after prolonged exposure to diesel engine oils. Will change oil after completing 2000 km on it.

Thanks for a warm welcome bro.. was busy preparing for exams.. hope I get good scores.

yup its 15w40. All shops around here have almost stopped selling 1 liter HDEOs and saw the new T3 there, so thought of getting some opinions.

me too not using my bike much these days.. 300kms a month by max. and I think it needs some hard running

Re: your situation, If I were you and oil behaved and looked good than i would surely used it for 2k kms..

guys, question.. what should the color of the oil be in a new 100cc bike which has run 400 kms? more or less clear / clean as fresh new oil? OR should we expect it to be burnt n blackish? I was expecting its color to be changed at least a bit after 400kms in a new bike.. OR is my expectation wrong?

It depends what bike, how much refined the engine is etc. The color after 500 km in a mineral oil is usually dark brown. In new bikes the color can be darker. Even if it has not darkened/over darkened, there is nothing to worry.

Oil should not turn black in just 400kms.. but still you should notice little color change to the darker side.. much like gear oils.

Dunno about the new oil but its been close to 5k kms since i have shifted to the R3 and man i have to agree that this oil is one of best i have ever used. The perormance is quite similar to that of the agip full synth. The gear shifts are great and i have even observed a rise in the FE from the second oil change.

Apart from my own experience chucked this question to one of my seasoned mechanic friend and the results were almost similar, and apart from the dark brown, red or golden color oil colors we have here, the dark brown is especially a little hard to differentiate between the very color and the oil seen after 400 KMS. By default some oils change color ever after a few 100 KMS, and you need not worry about color change. The oil is doing what it's supposed to do, take in the gunk and keep it suspended. And 400 KMS would definitely change the color of the in almost 95% of the bikes. The key here is to check the thickness of the oil and the color.

Note: The color you see on the dipstick will be completely different when you see the entire oil from the sump in a pan. Most people check the dipstick, the oil appears golden bronwish but indeed the oil may be working over time. But this is worse case for those who almost forget that the bike is running on oil. But you need not worry.

Cheers!
