Interesting. But can you just elaborate a little more on what the difference you felt from using this grease as opposed to lithium based normal greases. Now I understand different usage recommends different greases, but this gel, how does it fare from the lith. Not sure it's the grease or the new handle racer that is making feel great!! But I assume it is better than the normal lithium grease as I have used the gel grease on my chain and there is no sound and sound in chain while gear shifting has vanished.. Earlier I have applied lithium grease but that didn't damped the chain noise nor did it smoothen the gear sifting...Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostInteresting. The reason I asked is because though there are specific greases for specific purposes, and I appreciate the thoughts, and there are liquid/molten greases and normal greases and this gel based and though I haven't used this Castrol Premium gel, I just wanted to get a thought as it was kinda of a placebo effect.Originally posted by antan_shank View PostNot sure it's the grease or the new handle racer that is making feel great!! Castrol's premium formula gel is lithium grease too , but it is NLGI 2.5 grade ( i.e softer ) as opposed to the usual NLGI 3 grade greases that is standard in our climate . For wheel bearings only I use the other castrol grease "premium long life" which is the usual NLGI grade 3 and available in 200gm pouch . I lubed my bike's steering cone bearings with Waxpol Multipurpose AP3 grease ( my long-time fav for general purpose ) last month only , and the bearings feels just superb too . I guess it's just that you took the trouble to grease those bearings up and not what grease you used

I was curious to share that an engine oil seller recommended me the semi-synth (5100) over the Motul 7100 for my 200NS. I was amazed with his contradiction that "7100 is good that will boost the pick-up and acceleration, but I'll still recommend semi-synth for long runs"? any thoughts over this?

Its basically related to smoothness, people have reported smoother rides on Pulsars with 5100 than 7100. I am currently using 7100 with P220. 5100 when it comes to usage terms is an excellent oil and comparatively cheaper than the 7100 and more or less the same drain interval. Both are good oils, and I haven't found any difference whatsover from both. Generally prefer NLGI 3 grade greases for our warm climate and applications where it is likely to be heated . Manufacturers know about the suitability of the various grades in different climates , so you'll find 99% of them are appropriately grade 3 here . In the US you'd find grade 2 only . There is more to greases than grade . The 2nd most important for us being compatibility with various materials and other greases . Greases marked AP means it is all-purpose , i.e it is widely compatible and suitable for general purpose use . 3 is just the NLGI grade . Lithium greases in general is incompatible with sodium greases . Some greases destroy softer rubbers and polymers . While applying grease to an already lubed part , continue using the type that is in there . If you don't know the previous used type or unsure , clean off all old lube with solvent and dry it before fresh greasing .

I've used almost most of the Motul oils, and I can vouch for the performance of the 5100 and 7100 too was good, but upgrading to the next level after 5100, 7100 and the like didn't really increase the performance drastically as such. But 7100 is a good FS oil, but for our bikes 5100 is more than suffice. But if you intend to use the 7100 then you can use it absolutely no problem.

Motul 7100 is very expensive ( around Rs.1200) and has similar performance like 5100. If you can't find 5100, other option is yamalube semisynthetic which is same motul 5100.
Mobil1 is also expensive and I think it won't fit in recommended grade.
Castrol Power1 Racing 10w50 (Rs.700) is very good too. Good for winter season. Reduced vibrations.

Mate 7100 is for rs700-750 something and 5100 is for rs550-600 something.
Even the Motul 300v is for only around rs900
