Re: Mixed Synthetic and Mineral oils
Yeah this is the one I am using right now.... I am experiencing considerable great change in gear shifting... No sliping of gear which I used to face earlier specially in 3rd and 4th gear, cuz whenever I want to downshift from 4th to 3rd, after shifting gear knob feels free and strange khrrrrrr sound, and after giving throttle light jerk and bike engaged in the gear ( I think it is fake neutral), after using Motul 3100 its all gone I can feel every gear.. Pickup is increased, but haven't checked it on high speeds but will check this week end.. Thanks bro, for sharing this.Originally posted by maadyy View Post

Re: Mixed Synthetic and Mineral oils
For my Discover 125ST, I moved to Motul 5100 15W50 from the Bajaj Oil which I was using for past 8767 kms. Will post a long term usage report after I complete 1 or 2k kms on this oil, but initial feeling is very positive. The vibrations at speed of 50km which are common in this bike have vanished. Finding neutral once the engine is hot is also bit easier. Planning to use this oil for atleast 3k kms.
One quick question, what is the shelf life of these oils. The pack i bought was Feb 2013 manufactured and imported in April 2013. Even the pic above is from April 2013.Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

Re: Mixed Synthetic and Mineral oils
Motul 5100 is a good pick mate. You can safely use it upto 5000 kms before draining it. The shelf Life of these are quite good actually, I've mentioned yesterday itself that one of my friend has poured in Motul 5100 and it carried the import of Mar 2004 and he is going good. So don't worry about that mate. Motul itself guarantees their oils for 2 years of shelf Life, so you don't have to worry about it.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostFor my Discover 125ST, I moved to Motul 5100 15W50 from the Bajaj Oil which I was using for past 8767 kms. Re: Mixed Synthetic and Mineral oils
AFAIK the recommended oil grade for discover 125ST is xxW40, and you're using xxW50.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostFor my Discover 125ST, I moved to Motul 5100 15W50 from the Bajaj Oil which I was using for past 8767 kms. Re: Engine Oils
Trust me, I am paranoid about these things myself. It is mentioned in user manual and workshop manual both and only after confirming this from multiple sources, did I allow them to use 20w50 during the free services. Bajaj uses 20w50 in all 4 valve bikes now. I did mail Bajaj to correct this on their site but never got a responseBetter late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

Re: Engine Oils
Don't worry about the change as you are good to go with xxW50 as it is above the recommended grade. That should give you a lot heavier and silent ride.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostTrust me, I am paranoid about these things myself. Re: Engine Oils
First off, the fill assist of the extendable mouth isn't available in most oils. I've seen them both in my 300V and 5100 cans, and never saw them in 3000T and or 3100T. The fact of the matter is products that are genuinely manufactured in France, (at least the way I reckon) does have fill assist, and the products that are locally manufactured doesn't have them, from what I've used and experienced.Originally posted by Aniruddha Shinde View PostExperts, please help me.. How to check weather Motul oil is original or not... Cuz I am suspecting that I am running of fake Motul product.. cuz I dont receive cash coupon which is written on the pack and can does not have the fill assist which we can see on other Motul cans by which we dont need funnel to pour in the engine.. I have only completed 100 kms after started using it.. Please assist
Absolutely not a problem, unless the oil is contained in the oil can, other than the engine (filled in) one need not worry about shelf life. You can easily use an engine oil that's canned for more than 11 months.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View Post

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Engine Oils
Just a query came up, as you have mentioned the ones produced in France they do have fill assists. Do we have products available here which are manufactured or produced in France? If yes then how can we source them? As seen above the one I have bought was manufactured locally.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostFirst off, the fill assist of the extendable mouth isn't available in most oils. Re: Engine Oils
All the Motul Products except the 3000 and 3100 series are made in France and distributed globally. Not even a single product other than these two are made locally. So you can say all the oils from Motul 5100 and up are made in France. Current importer in India is Atlantic Lubricants.Originally posted by maadyy View PostJust a query came up, as you have mentioned the ones produced in France they do have fill assists. Re: Engine Oils
Thanks for the info. I have used 5100 once, I don't remember about that exactly. Changing oil next time I will check for it.Originally posted by forceedge View PostAll the Motul Products except the 3000 and 3100 series are made in France and distributed globally. I am sorry for incomplete query actually my question was did the 5100 came with fill assist the one you used? I don't remember but I used it once in the past and during that period only my Piston went kaput and I was suspecting the engine oil to be fake Motul. So after all the analysis and drama I was like made up my mind to not to use 5100 anymore for my P150 (UG4). Next time if I go for 5100 or 7100 I will check as mentioned if the oil is fake.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostYes I got 5100. Paid Rs.550b SANE to b insane!

Re: Engine Oils
For sure mate. Motul really has created a very good quality control system by this process. If it reads "Manufactured by MOTUL in France" and Imported and Distributed by Atlantic Lubricants", then one can be sure that their Motul 5100, 7100 and 300V is genuine. Atleast in our country. Locally manufactured oil doesn't carries the name of the Importer. That is one way to separate the fakes.Originally posted by maadyy View PostThanks for the info.
