        INR 25,000 per oil.

Renewable every year I think! May be they have not applied for it this year/month. They already claim JASO MA2 certification on AX7 oil.

Check 2T Engine Oils from the same(Motul India Portal) maker:
          Mineral: Motomix 2T - Motul
Synthetic: 800 2T Factory Line Road Racing - Motul

Shell motorcycle oils weren't there in 2012 result sheets either, I see Diesel-Engine-Oils(DEO) on the certified list.

₹ 25,000 per oil-grade is cheaper as opposed to API counterpart!!!

Excerpt from All about Motor Oils

The cost of getting an API certification for a single S motor oil formulation is from $125,000 to $300,000. The cost for C certification is $275,000 to $500,000. Once testing is complete, the oil can be licensed for $825 per year, plus a small royalty fee per gallon sold for all gallons over one million. The length of time between new specifications is now approximately 2 to 3 years, which does not allow a great deal of time to recover testing costs.

What I was telling about was just the JASO management fee. The testing fee would be very high.

Go thru the JASO site and you will understand about it. Maybe Shell hasn't renewed its JASO certification.

              Cheerz!!

Shell 4T Motorcycle oils don't show up on the list, is this something to worry about?
Does this list show the oils sold in India??? More than 60% names of oils mentioned in the list are not available in Indian market.
Moreover the list shows castrol 4T as Jaso certified with code M044CAS117. This code is not mentioned on any castrol 4T bottles sold in India.

IMHO, oil companies are taking indian customers for a ride by mentioning words like "meets Jaso standards" or "exceeds Jaso standards"

Jaso certified oils will have "Jaso T903:2011" mentioned on the bottle/pouch/pack. The previous standard was "Jaso T903:2006". I suggest all motorcycle oil buyers to look for this mark metioned on the bottle/pack.

Which site are talking about? This one JASO Engine Oil Standards Implementation Panel was bare minimum.

We cannot be certain that we're being taken for a ride knowing certification alone costs heavy. Nevertheless, we're in the dark.

Well, I've below bottles: both cost me above ₹ 500/- (import duty)
                    Motul 4T 5100 15w50 with OilCode : M033MOT114
                    Motul 4T 5100 10w30 with OilCode : M033MOT111

Jaso certifies samples from across the world. Shell bottles doesn't seem to have JASO certification logo.

Reputed OMC's who have good OEM biz or have good market share chunk with them, would never claim "meets/exceeds JASO MA/MA2/MB" without running the actual test for claiming JASO.

Most of the high end Motul oils are imported and not manufactured in India. Hence you can be sure of their quality. For oils advertising "meets / exceeds jaso standards", there is still obscurity whether they really conform with the jaso requirements

If they have enough money to run the tests at their own R&D centers, then why not send a sample to JASO for certification.

As it is, they are sending samples of oil sold in other countries to JASO for certification. The reason is that in other countries the consumer movement is so strong that if questioned in courts, the oil companies will have to pay compensation.

In India, as the consumer movement is not strong enough, the oil companies are taking undue benefit of it.

My suggestion is to stick to MOtul oils if you are looking for real JASO certified oils.

For your information, go thru point number 4.6 in the link posted by me some posts back. You can see all the Indian OMC's names there who have JASO certifications.

As i have said earlier, no reputed company will print JASO standards on there oil without having passed the test and ontained the certification for the same.

Unless the label bears this exact symbol with the corresponding JASO certification number and year , it is not a JASO certified oil - whatever else may be claimed .
