Visited Sandhya Auto Spares-JC Road BLR (MotorCycle House) this morning to inquire about availability of All-Gear 80w90 Oil. Fortunately the dealer(not counter-personnel) himself was there, forgot to ask his name.

        1. There was some import issue for semi-synth & synth oils, what happened?
Dealer : There is no such problem.
        2. Can I get All-Gear 80w90 or MotylGear 75w90 oil?
Dealer : Billing/Accounting has been done for new shipment. You can get it tomorrow. Where are you coming from?
SparKot : Electronic City BLR ***expecting a door delivery***
        Dealer : ***Silence***

then some questions about my ride & what oil suits it ... blah blah ...

Forgot to ask about 5L cans

Ok so I think o got an issue taken care off. Went to my oil dealer to get motul 3100 gold... its my go to oil when I dont have the moolah for 5100 or higher....and guess what... he dosent have 3100 or 5100 says no supply. Shit..... I look around and spot a bottle of oil... 20w50.... look at the brand.... castrol... now I dont hate castrol its just that I am a motul guy and castrol has fakes that keep me at bay.... read further... for petrol cars....exceeds api sl limits.. heck with it... 2 weeks il get 5100 lets just get this shit... im in a hurry... pack says 313rs I get ut for 280rs... pour it in... its red and smells funny and looks thicker than 5100 and 3100 and guess what.. it dosent feel as grainy as motuls do... i pour it in and ride it... impressions.. engine noise has died down... and this is from a pulsar owner..its not too costly and not to cheap.... engine feels calm, gears are a precise click! and my gearbox sucked classic pulsar you see...

Now why is this oil red and why does it smell a little like garnier fructis:what: also il put in detailed report after clockin some miles....

Im still no castrol fan... but man this feels same as motul 5100 for 280rs... no ckutch slippage as yet.. havent ripped the oil till now... will do so after 50 to 100 km of running it in...(I do that with all my oils) Click image for larger version

^^^ Nice, you can also try to find Valvoline & Gulf oils in 20w50 grade.

Visited Sapna AutoSpares (MotorCycle House) JC Road BLR (Motul Auth Dist):
They have a new stock of imported engine-oils; all I could see was 5-6 bottles in each grade on the counter-table. A truck load mineral oils stock as seen few days back.

Prices that I can recollect seeing on the bottles by series:

            3100 : 375/-
            5100 : 575/-
            7100 : 805/-
            300v : 1150/-

These are MRP and retailer is known to sell them about 8-10% lesser than MRP for individual bottle.

And they don't have 5L cans of Engine-Oils either; nor did they get 80-90 All-Gear oil. Makes me wonder who was that bugger making the authoritative statement the other day.

            cheers

Guys mistakenly or accidentally Castrol GTX 20W50 was poured and I rode around 2500kms with that. Certainly I felt knocking in the engine beyond 4k rpm. I went ahead to change the oil and found only 500ml oil was left. It's unfortunate that I realized it late that I am running on wrong oil and my oil is due for change. I have changed it to castrol 20W40 as my drain interval is 1000km. Now my question is: is there is any after effect of using the wrong oil like I did with Castrol GTX 20W50 which is basically a car engine oil. I ride a pulsar 150 UG4.5. And I use Motul 3100 20w50 regularly.

Not to worry. Car oil contains friction reducers which can reduce friction between clutch plates and they may start slipping. In your case nothing happened. The engine is as it was without any ill-effects.

As Muztariq mentioned, friction busters do tend to interfere (especially in a wet clutch system) which causes clutch slippage. Some bikes have the slippage from the moment they change the oil and some do take time. But other than that, reduced friction on any other part of the engine is a one to look forward for.

And circumventing the same answer as above, it also depends on how well your clutch plates are, considering the fact that they are new and have some life left they resist slippage to an extent. The same oil may not be too friendly on a clutch plate that's considerably worn.

                    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                    THE END

While I'm changing the gear I can hear a trk trk noise from my Pulsar 200NS. Is this problem because of the clutch plate or Engine oil ?
Do anyone have a clue about this ???

Dear all first of all thanks for your support and immediate reply. During this 2000km run I didn't face nay problem and I am still running on stock clutch plate (30000km). I still have no clue how engine oil drops so much where as no white smoke is noticed though my engine gets hot sooner. I have mostly used Motul 3100 and then also tried Motul 5100 and 7100 with a draining period of under 2000kms. But now I have decided to drain by 1000km for the sake of the engine. As my engine has already ceased once leading to change of piston block set.

I have a different growl sound form my engine apart from normal engine sound when RPM is up by 4.5k, no mechanic could trace the reason. So I have decided to swtich to castrol Active 20W40 due to its ease of availability and anyways I am gonna drain it after 1000km. Also castrol 20e40 is easily available and dont have to run for. Motul is not that easily available though it is good and worth the penny spent.

Mine Bajaj discover 135 engine oil level decrease when I cover about 700km(from Max mark to the min mark) and no white smoke but black smoke on high rpm spark plug also have oil on it but bike perform well. Covered 50600 km till date

Every shop keeper suggested to go for castrol magnetic or gtx.
I bought this pack from castrol head office for nepal but the bottle was manufactured in 2008.
Does engine has expiry date? Or is it fine to use this one?
