Suggest me a good engine oil please.
What is the Viscosity grade mentioned in the manual? I think its 15w50. Motul 5100 fits the bill perfectly in this case.

Is that Synthetic or Mineral oil bro... ?? cant remember what the manual says. The reason being, people say they don't find much difference in performance while using Synthetic.

Does anyone know how Motul manages to sell Singapore JASO certified/licensed engine oils in India at affordable prices?

Agreed, not in real time; even the estimates done later can be misleading.

It's a Semi-Synth, and is likely to set you back by ₹ 530/ltr can.

Its Semi-S. If I remember correctly the grade used in your bike is 15w50. You should check owners manual or previous bills to check which oil the manufacturer prescribes.
Fully-S would probably leak from your motorcycle.
SparKot its not so difficult to manufacture JASO certified oils in affordable prices. I would say Motul's price is on the higher side. Tide water and Savsol does it cheaper. Check JASO certification 'applied for' list from JASO website and see for yourself how many cheaper oils are enlisted.

Is 15w50 superior in every way over the 20w40 ?

Last time when I asked a motul-facebook account, they said they're trying to locally produce 5100(French certificate) series.
What's actually stopping them when they can locally produce Singapore certified 3100 & scooter series & 3000 series certified from France region.

You should see the certification. I mean what spec is the oil complying. What do you mean by french certified and singapore certified?

No/yes. It depends on lot of factors.
Mostly 15w50 are SemiS oil. In comparison to 20w40 which are mineral oils usually, it is better.
But in a motorcycle where 20w40 is used, lets say Splendor, a 15w50 oil would circulate very slowly and cold starts would become dangerous. It may not circulate at all in some cold areas.
In a given motorcycle like the fz where both 20w40 and 20w50 are acceptable, 15w50 oil would come out the best.

Though I don't own a RE CL500, but very keen to have one someday. So did some research on that. As per my knowledge, RE has recommended 15W50 grade.
Motul 5100 15W50 can provide wonderful result in your AVL engine. Only after using it your engine can tell you how good he is feeling - lend your ears to him. After all its an Enfield - it talks. I'm sure you know that too.

Brother, I am also having a 2013 ZMA. I am using Motul 5100 15W50. Though the recommended grade is 10W30. Since, I use the bike for long distance touring, where the engine runs for prolong hours in low rpm and without a stop, got a very good result from that oil till now. You may source any mineral or semisynthetic 10W30 or 10W40 oil for your ZMA. My experience with full synthetic oil in the engine is not quite good. It seemed to me that the engine is not liking the synthetic oil.
Though my friend is using Mobil 1 4T 10w40, in his ZMA and he is happy with that.

Just listing some for reference which I picked from photos in this thread, recent certificate may bear different OilCode on the bottle/can:

Oil brewed in(or sent/filed from) Singapore & OilCodes
• 3100 Gold 20w50 : M065MOT044
• 3100 Gold 20w50 : M065MOT018
• 4T 10w40 : M065MOT059
• Scooter LE 10w30 : M065MOT041

Oil brewed in(or sent/filed from) France & OilCodes
• 3000 4T Plus 20w40 : M033MOT072
• 3000 4T Plus 15w50 : M033MOT076
• 5100 Ester 15w50 : M033MOT057
• 7100 Ester 20w50 : M033MOT053

Ones that are packaged at Silvassa(India) are cheaper and are in par with local JASO certified oils. 5100, 7100 & 300v bottles are imported hence heavy import duty. As one can see, ester based series are being imported.

1. How can they produce oils with Singapore/France OilCodes in India? What's the procedure behind it?
2. What's stopping them from producing 5100 series in India? They'll be cheaper if done.

Once a company gets a JASO certification, they can manufacture the same in any part of the world. The registration number remains same irrespective of where it is manufactured. Also, opting for re-registering the same product is a costly affair and doesn't require, if the contents of oil are same. Incase they change the contents of the oil, they have to get JASO registration again (incase they want to).

Cheerz!!

Ok, that brings us to second question:
What's stopping Motul from producing 5100 series in India? Leave the 7100 & 300v assuming lower demand in the market.

Another question,
I see a lot of oils of same grade from same maker, doesn't explains the costly affair. Perhaps they're different viz, Mineral/Semi-Synth/Full-Synth. Will cross check a set when I've time for it.
