whatever the grade, please check and topup frequently when using the bike more frequently, Also stick to oil change intervals and if recommended, change the oil filters if applicable.

Re: Engine Oils
If you manual recommends the xxW50 grade go for it. It is a good oil. I usually use a thicker oil during summers ( 20W50 instead of 20W40). I have not found much of degradation in performance or kmpl when using the heavier oil though. The 2 Wheler in question HOnda Eterno mostly city used.Originally posted by Sunilkumaran View Post

Re: Engine Oils
Hello all,
i bought a pulsar 200AS this month and already did my frist service at 500km where bajaj oil was filled.
Now i want to do another oil change at ~1500KM.
The most recommended brand here seems to be Motul 5100 or 7100 and 300V.
On looking everywhere found only Motul 3100 Gold 20W50 at one shop.
This is not even listed on the motul website, a certain Motul 3000 is listed.
Its written made in india. packed Sep 2013!
I dont understand what this oil is? Is it fake?

Re: Engine Oils
Yeah u can use it .Don't mix it . If ur a redline racer then go 300v ,becoz it a racing oil and the other option is motul 7100 20w50 this is what made for P220.See this postOriginally posted by Pulsar220F View PostIs anyone using 300v 15w50 for their pulsar 220? Does it give better acceleration than 7100 or 5100?
If I mix 1 litre 300v and 200ml 5100 15w50, will it cause anything bad to engine? I've some spare 5100 15w50 and planning to change oil to 300v upon reaching 10k kms.

Thanks for replying, very nice info.Originally posted by nakedvolves View Post
Do you have any method to check fake and real motul oil?
Although I think most of sellers here sell original but still skeptical about it.

Re: Engine Oils
Don't worry it is not fake...3100 is a semi synthetic oil like 5100 but without Esther base...it is not mentioned in their web.so go ahead and use it.Motul has manufacturing facility at silvasa wer they manufacture mineral oil like 3000,scooter le and 3100...oils like 5100,7100 and 300v are imported from France...Originally posted by guptavis View PostHello all,

Re: Engine Oils
Yeah 5100,7100,300v u can see their packing they are nicely packed ,and they have marked option so u can pour exact oil. Rest motul they packed in India so the packaging is not like the imported one.Originally posted by suj View PostDon't worry it is not fake...3100 is a semi synthetic oil like 5100 but without Esther base...it is not mentioned in their web.so go ahead and use it.Motul has manufacturing facility at silvasa wer they manufacture mineral oil like 3000,scooter le and 3100...oils like 5100,7100 and 300v are imported from France...

Re: Engine Oils
Hey guys..
What difference does Semi Synthetic and Full Synthetic oil make?
I used to change my engine oil from the Hero Service center for my Hero Hunk..
Once done with all the free service.. I gave my bike for servicing to my mechanic and got to know the chain sprocket has worn out and need to change it.. And engine oil was burnt.. It had a weird smell.. I wasnt riding much in Rains.. My bike always used to ride rough..
Changed engine oil to Motul 5100 semi synthetic 10w30.. The bike feels good now..
When should be the next engine oil change for semi synthetic.. And will be changing the sprocket set after monsoons.. As the mechanic said it will work fine till that time.. But will have to bear with the chain noise..
Thanks in advance..

Re: Engine Oils
Semi Synthetic oils are mix of synthetic and mineral oils, while Fully Synthetic are purely synthetic.Originally posted by AmanZ View PostWhat difference does Semi Synthetic and Full Synthetic oil make?
For our commuter bikes, semi synthetic oils are more than enough.
Ride safe and have fun.

Where as synthetic oils are artificially prepared for specific needs.
Synthetic oils provide
1. Better lubrication to the engine across the temperature range of the engine.
2. Better viscosity stability.
3. Longer oil life.
4. Protects the engine better.
Semi-synthetic oils on the other hand enhance the performance of the mineral oil and makes it more stable.
But synthetic oils are expensive.
And for normal riding semi-synthetic is good enough.
Motul 5100 is a very good semi- synthetic oil.
I generally keep the oil change interval between 2500kms to 3000kms for semi synthetic
And 5000kms to 7000kms for synthetic.
