Shell semi synthetic is good and valvoline semisynthetic too.
    I have used both.

That's a car engine oil. It definitely causes clutch slip (due to anti friction agents) in case of motorcycles, but I'm not aware of it's effects on a scooter. Keep us posted.
Yeah shell HX7 semi synthetic.......since scoots come with dry clutch we don't need to worry about anti friction agents in oil , actually scoots need anti friction agents for better performance....the term scooter specific 4t oils are just marketing strategy used by oil companies...you must have observed on 4t scooter oil can that it shouldn't be used on motorbikes bcoz it contains anti friction agents.....I opted hx7 bcoz all scooter 4t oils come in 10w30 weight, for added extra protection for summer I bought 10w40 hx7..

            Cant believe it..
But Just saw it at the Svc .
            Yamaha engine oil :
            1. 10w40 fully synthetic
& 2. 10w40 something named 'optima' I guess with fuel efficient tag on it like the scooter oil.
Same shelf was showcasing the usual 15w50 semi synth & 20w40 mineral oils.
I guess after hero it was yamaha's turn to switch.

Yes, this Yamaha 10w40 fully synthetic oil (Rs 450) seems to be a new addition and is priced less than the 15w50 semi synthetic oil (Rs 550)

I wanted to continue with semi synthetic, but it was not available at svc when I gave the bike for service last week. The mech then asked me to try out this new fully synthetic oil.
Now the bike runs comparatively smoother but gear shifts seem a bit clunky.

Picture showing full-synth(blue bottle) is blurred. But it has got 10w40 written on it.
P.S: They should have at least shifted to SM from the controversial SL grade.

Me too. Did you use it as yet?

I read somewhere that these were from an older lot and so buyers should avoid it. But I went ahead and bought it anyway.

Was from August 2014 batch. Although I knew this, I anyway called up Shell India CC number and asked them about the shelf life of their products. They said IF stored in the right manner, their oils carry a shelf life of 3 years. I can only hope the seller who sold this on Amazon handled them the right way.

I used the oil in my GS150R (first FS, until now it was Castrol Power1 SS only) and it has been close to 1K KM since then. There is no straightway difference that I have come across. My riding in the period has been restricted to city limits only. Waiting to see if the oil makes a difference in high RPM highway riding for extended time. Mileage per litre of fuel has remained the same as earlier. I normally drain the P1 SS oil at 2K KM interval. Planning to extend the interval to 3K KM (or more depending upon the oil condition and overall engine response) with this oil.

Got it for Rs. 399. Bought two!

Mine is also August 2015 manufactured. I am using it in my cbr for the past 1k. Absolutely no problem with the oil.
