Honda_Abhi you can try for yourself once the rimula you never know it.can work out better in your case
I am not worried about the engine. I am more worried about the wet clutch and gear sprockets. rimula is a HDEO which is used in machines which has a separate gear oil with EP additives. All motorcycle engine oils have EP additives as motorcycles use same oil for engine and transmission. HDEOs do not have those EP additives.

If the transmission takes a beating, I do not want any gear repairs on a Honda at 20 K kms. Honda parts are expensive and spare part availability of new bikes is sparse. May be I will experiment after I cross 40K kms

Honda Abhi just in trial of few 100kms it won't harm much. I tried it on a new engine just 6k kms old of rtr 180./although the case with me was bike was very old and had done 70k kms. I had converted my engine from fiero to rtr 180 when it was time for bore change

I would be interested in discussing further. This is not the right thread. Can u please start a new thread under modifications? I am sure lot of members would be interested.

One more problem I am facing is that during morning engine start if the bike is on gear and I try to start the bike. It jerks forward like when you start the engine with a half held clutch. And if I start the engine in neutral and give a minute of ideal running and then when I engage the first gear. It jerks and the gear engagement is very rough. But after riding for just 2 or 3 kms then the problem is not there. Experts please advise

Liquid Gun is RE's OEM for oils. It's a mineral oil. Anything above 2.5k km would be pushing it.
It's a highly viscous oil and hence the jerks you experience on a cold engine, before coming at normal operating temperature.

You can give HP Racer 4 15W 50 a try too.

P.S - Why not give FS oils a try? Don't worry, the newer REs should handle them just fine and FS oils don't even eat away oil seals as popularly believed/broadcast by nincompoops in India!

Mathews sir, I read somewhere that RE needs 2.2 L oil but then someone said it needs 3.5! That's a lot. Can you confirm? In that case, FS would be very costly.

Divya sir RE needs 2.5 ltr oil if oil is drained just from drain bolt,
If we open the clutch cover then 3ltr of oil is used as .5 ltr oil is there in casing which dont drain through drain bolt.

Please don't call me sir I am not that old. Now as per the service manual the engine tank capacity is 2.75 ltrs. When you do not change the oil filter then the maximum oil that can be drained is 2.35 ltrs. But with oil filter it is 2.5 ltrs

My Bike: Pulsar 220F DTSi 2014 Model.

Oil I use: Motul 300V 15W50 FS. But very expensive INR 1150 per litre and my beast needs 1.3 litres. But I am OK with it.

Drain Interval 3500 kms regardless of anything. The oil is still green though with some amount of black particles. Not like other oils which go tar black. The Bajaj oil goes black in less than 2K.

Any issues: No. Just next to ignorable and negligible oil leak from drain screw. Not bothering though. Gear shifts are very smooth. Engine remains calm under aggressive revving.

                            Total kms on ODO: 25K+

Other oil recommended: Motul 5100 15W50 SS. Great OIL, but I prefer Ester based Motul 300V.

remarks: I noticed that use of 20W50 oil puts auto-choke on for a longer time in winters. 15W50 puts it for a shorter time. But obvious.

Hi There!! I feel u shud use Motul 5100. Motul 5100 also has ester technology. 300V has double ester technology. Maybe u have an oil leak due to double ester. Lot of pulsar owners have reported oil leaks we they use 300V. Try using a rubber damper on the drain screw when u change the oil next time. This might stop the leak. Happy riding.

Hi... Yeah I know. But I prefer the Motul 300V regardless. Great oil. I had used Motul 5100 till 10000K on ODO after using Motul 30004T mineral oil in running-in. Its a good oil too. When I say great, meaning the vibrations are much less at stressful RPMs and gear shifts much smoother than Motul 5100.
Also the leak is as it is ignorable and negligible. As it goes "A bike never leaks oil.. It just marks it territory". Additionally I also use 3M Engine Flush after every 10000K with oil change, which I change every 3500K.
Any kind of rubber dampner/ washer/ gasket will be eaten away by the oil eventually and those little rubber particles with go into the engine and I dont know what all will happen then. By now, the gasket has disappeared almost completely and I dont plan on putting a new one. The leaking is fine but not the rubber particles going in the engine. Thats my theory though. Any suggestion /feedback is welcome...
