      • Got the Yamalube SL semi-synth 15w50 filled in my R15 yesterday. Will attach pics by tomorrow. Bike feels as smooth as earlier, but seems to be growling a bit!

Got the Petronas 4T 5000 full-synth oil filled in my Fiero F2 today. Engine knocking which had set in a few days back has vanished, but similarly, the bike seems to be growling a bit.
        Quench my thirst with gasoline!

        • ^^^ your bikes seem to have caught wild cat syndrome

BTW, your Fiero's knocking vanish thing has got to do with the change of spark plug too.

          ------------------------------

Here are YamaLube Semi Synth Pics. Couldn't wait for R15Rocks to post them

Surprisingly the manufacturer name is not mentioned as it is written on the Mineral oil cans... The dealer did mention that this too comes from Exxon Mobil but expected it to be mentioned.

ur lucky it lasted to 5k.with a daily running of 50 kms + half an hour traffic jam session the oil doesn't survive more than 3000kms in my unicorn, still no regrets as the honda oil never lasted more than 1500kms.So 330 bucks for synthetic is full paisa vasool
                  @hydbiker-415 bucks for a semisynthetic,petronas zindabad

                  • Got this from over at the CBZ-x ownership thread
"me too achieved only 8500RPM on mineral oil.But heard synthetic stuffs are great for their protection properties. As i usually cruise @high speed thought it was money well spent.never cared or knew i would be seeing performance. When i saw the RPM meter even i was in DISBELIEF i kept those speeds for more than 6kms so i stared @ the console quite a lot to confirm that it was 9500RPM(110km/hr).Today no coughing even @ 123km/hr couldnt take my eyes off the road much but it was always above 9000RPM may be it reached 10000RPM i honestly dont know(lot of traffic).
The oil is Castrol power 1 racing"
So is this good to use or bad? I own a cbz-x and if it really makes such a difference without damaging the bike I could actually catchup with the fz-16 which is leaving me depressed lately

if it is on the RTR, there's a small (abt 1.5 inch dia) cap fitted with three bolts on the right side of the engine... guess you'd not need more directions on now to change... but be careful not to forget the spring and the direction of the filter.

well, that would start the debate again. It is... according to the manual.

yes, ur RTR was screaming with this oil. BTW, what was the drained qty? any more or less? just wanted to check if ur loose tappets are letting combustion gases into the engine!

guess Petronas can't sell that oil for that price for long. that can's Malaysian price itself is Rs 660!

two of the properties of synthetic oils that make them better over the mineral oils is 1) heat management and 2) better lubrication

Synth oils have the ability to retain their viscosity at higher temperatures and hence provide better lubrication on a hot engine too. This enables less friction and hence the revvs can build quickly and relatively better. Hence faster & higher revvs. These oils can also dispense the heat to optimum working levels faster than mineral oils thus giving better protection to the engine from overheating.

BTW, the quote u got from the CBZ-X thread had another tag -
Does oil perform better after they r hot??.cause i find the acceleration improve after the engine gets hot
there is an minimum operating temp required for better performance. Yes, many engines work better in the noon than in the morning and hot engines revv easier (provided the engine oil is good) than colder engines. Please don't consider HOT as really hot - that'd be called over heating and engines seize to work then.

                          • Engine Oil for Suzuki Access 125

Hey guys, I recently got my suzuki access 125 and 1st service is due soon.

The a s s is recommending Suzuki Idemitsu 10w-30 synthetic, any other better oil to go for?

I had sent an email to mr Srinivas of motul Bangalore and he recommends motul 10w-30 mineral grade4000tplus , the stock fill from the factory is supposedly 10w-30 synth!

                            1. As the factory fill is synth, should I continue with synth or what?
                            2. Is 10w-30 okay for indian conditions, shouldnt 10w-40 as temeparature is already around 38 deg's or did i get this wrong?

                            KC

Check the manual...I'd say stick to the company recommendation for the time being as your bike is very new!
