    your options would be-
    Petronas sprinta 5000 4t full syn 10w40
    castrol power1 racing full syn
motul 300v 5w40 or 15w50 full syn but former preffereble for the rtr
castrol and motul costs around 700+,petronas costs around 300+

    • if u ask me,i have tried all the oils in my uni,and from all of them i suggest the motul 5100 techno syn 15w50 which is 375/-,complete bang for the buck...

sprinta is kind of ok,10/10 on performance front but ur engine will be getting rougher as the kms grow...

yes,u can change to mineral oil after the syn's,but belive me,u won't...

and i think it would be better if u change the oil after the 10k mark,as the internal/initial wear of the engine parts is essential...use the company oil till 10k and flush once and switch to the syn's...

      • ok, as i read on the thread,i see almost every one is asking the same question...

so here goes my experiance after 52k on my year old unicorn with absolute insane driving ...

1.use the company oil for 10k as the internal wear of the engine is very imp initially, which will be slowed down by the syn's...

2.many oil's behave differently in different bikes (esp fully synth's),so experimenting is suggested before u settle for a brand...

3.keep in mind the oil spec of ur bike, which is imp...
ex - hh hunk has 10w30,so he should buy something which has 5/10 winter grade and 30/above 30 summer grade..but not go and buy a motul 5100 15w50...

4.there r many brands, mainly petronas, motul, castrol in th fully syn zone...
        petronas sprinta full syn - 10w40 ~320/-
        motul 5100 techno syn - 15w50 ~375/-
        motul 300v fully syn - 5w40/15w50 ~675/-
castrol power one racing fully syn -10w40 ~ 700/-

all are good but go for either sprinta or the motul 5100 for a start, both r great and sprinta gives an amazing powerband with the fully syn char, but will go on getting rougher as the oil gets older...but for 300 bucks,it's bargain... while the motul 5100 gives u butter smooth ride along with the performance...

5.bare in mind that the fully syn's have a char of drying up quicker than the minerals,so keep the oil checks in track...

6.flushing is recomended espcially when changing from mineral to syn's or vice versa... some say naaa, just change while the engine is hot,but it is recommended by many GURU's... u can get a decent flush for 180/-...

7.u won't find wonders as soon as u pore in the oil, give it some time(couple of hundred kms) and u'll start flyimg...

8.for general city driving (below 70kmph),stick wit the minerals as they r enough, but for extended long period driving or high speed driving go for the above,as they make a diff....

9.lastly,it's u who rides ur bike,so just don't see the rewies and go for it (not 100% dependable),test for ur self....

        • my pulsar got a new pulsar 200,bike is still in runin period & is due for first service

he is not happy with the castrol crap in the mineral oil segment

was told valvoline has a Mineral oil in the XW50 (engine a 20W50 grade oil) grade ? do we
          get it in india?

          checked the valvoline site:
          Lubricants ::Valvoline Cummins::

          nothing conclusive

          Motul 3000 4T 20W50 would be a good option to try ?

Motul 3000 mineral is very good among the minerals. It is a very good oil. I suggest you go for it rather than Castrol mineral.

This is a very good mineral oil that I had used, it was the best among Servo/Castrol/Veedol mineral oils that I had previously used.

But, AFAIK this oil is available only in Barrels and not 1L packs.

They do have1L packs, but I don't think its retails in 1L packs anywhere in India. Only service stations with large oil needs buy this oil in barrels.

U can use Activ Xtra for this oil change alone. And shift to Motul 5100/300V from then.

Cherry Agencies in Fort Road, Lalbagh. They have stocks of 15W50 300V Factory line. MRP is 795/- but you could convince them to give to you cheaper. By the way, which bike are you going to use it for?

Like I said 1L packs are not available, its only used by service centers who order them in barrels.

Probiking Chennai was using Motul 3000T 20W50 for sometime...
