  • @Guys - please don't be juvenile. His engine will NOT seize with the P180 unless he goes flat out.

@180 owner: Change to Castrol Activ Xtra or Valvoline or others. Motul isn't the only option. We at xbhp just love to perpetrate fads - 300V is one such thing. Google around for the 180 owners whose reported leakage from gaskets etc. I was one of them. I'm done with Motul for good.

Its lovely for honda engines, or even the 180 classic.

Actually the power 1 Racing was very good on my engine. I just wanted to switch over to Motul since I'm running on the wrong grade and Motul is fully synth and I am happy with fully synth oils( maybe for the free revving nature and never say no limits). Now since u say U and many others have been having Gasket leaks, that makes me wonder.
      Go back to mineral? semi-synth??
Perpetrating fads... looks like I have also been one of them now.

Hmmm... If mineral/semi-synth is an option I would consider it as long as I get the performance I need.
If i am switching over to mineral or semi-synth, should I use an Engine flush before the procedure???

Could u explain how the usage of Fully synthetic oils result in leaking gaskets.?
That would be really helpful and maybe would help demystify a myth.

leakage is not related to all synthetics. The culprit is the ester that is present in the motul 300v.It eats away the gasket material.Ester though helps in keeping the internals clean.I am using synthetic for more than a year in my unicorn.Till now no problem(touchwood).

I suggest you switch over to Motul 5100 semi synth. It's VFM, lasts longer than minerals. You should flush the engine, but mind you some remnants of the old oil will remain still.

Motul 300V has had mixed reactions on this forum. I am all for it. It is quite expensive though. I have not had leaking head problem with it even after using it for 11000 kms.

                    • ^^^ Why do you want to use it when Castrol isn't even bothered to mention the grade?

Why do you want to use it when so many better oils are available?

KP, my 4K km old RTR is already leaking oil from the head. It was sealed before I went on a trip. I was using PETRONAS SPRINTA. But even then within another 2K kms, it started to leak again! Beat that.....
