I usually have a habit of leaving Engine in ON state when I stop the bike for 5 - 10 min.
Is it good for the Bike - Dose Oil need to be cooled up ?

I have done 18000 Kms in less than 1 year and I always need to top up the Engine Oil after one long ride.

Also please suggest me the best Engine Oil - I don't mind spending few 100's more.

But the question arises whether this will suit P200(recommended 20w50)

How did u find the Motul 5100???

                  Pinku.Narendra,

You could try the Motul 300V. I run Veedol SuperSwift 10W40 semi synthetic on my LB500. The increase in smoothness is remarkable. But, the issue is you need an xW50 blend. So I guess Motul 300V would work well for you if you don't mind a lighter pocket.

Also, I change my oil every 2000Ks whereas the recommended interval is 3000Ks. Even this strategy can be pretty effective in case you don't want to shell out a lot of money on full snythetics.

PS: Warm your Bull up for 2 minutes every time for a cold start. This way, your bull will atleast easily last a few thousand kilometres more.

                  Cheers,

                  Jay

I always stop&switch off any of my bikes/car after a 100km.run to allow everything to cool down. It is a good practice.
The RE SVC here in Hyderabad is using a semisynth oil for the TBTS, Cheedhu will be able to throw more light on this.

                      • Engine Oil for RX 135 4 speed

                        Hi All

I was going through this article about engine oils and learnt alot. I'm confused over the best engine oil that can be used for my RX 135.

Some say I can use Motul 300V FL 100% synthetic for better performance. However, thought that it is basically meant for 4 stroke.

Is there any 100% synthetic engine oil similar engineoil like Motul 300V for 2 stroke bike?

Currently I have Castrol in my bike however, the oil says synthetic technology but not sure if it is 100% synthetic.

I heard Motul is better engine oil for bikes.

I even made a trip to Motul Chennai godown to know the products. I was offered mineral based oil for my bike. I have kept it for my next change. It cost 130/-.

I would like to have better engine oil for best possible performance. Please share your thoughts.

2 yrs and 19K KMs... Always used oil from PBK. P200 drinking oil. Doesn't the engine have a 5 yr warranty and the PBK guys supposed to get the problem rectified?

Try to use a thicker oil in 20W50 (recommended) grade like Motul if they are not helping much. Such an oil might delay the oil loss from the crank case but that wouldn't last very long unless the engine is attended to.

Why premium prices? they should sel it at the MRP max...

Sriram, Motul was selling 2T systhetic oils. Not sure if they don;t stock it now. Pls check the 2T Systhetic oils from Petronas (I hope they are seling them. The catalogue has them in). The Yamalube sold at Yamaha dealerships is a very good one (of course, mineral) made by Exxon Mobil (Mobil1).

Also, a 4T engine oil can be used in a 2T's crank case happily but the one for mixing with petrol for combustion must be a 2T oil.

Motul certainly has an ester based 2t oil. But its damn expensive. The next best option is Motul 510 Technosynthese which should of course be cheaper. Motul have told me that they have just imported it from France. You could write to them and find out yourself, if it can be made available in your city. If available 510 will be the highest rated oil available in India - JASO FD.

Castrol has two variants for 2t oils - Super TT and Jet X. Both are mineral (note that Castrol no longer mentions that Jet-X is semi-synthetic anywhere on the bottle. And once again - 'synthetic technology' does NOT mean its a fully synthetic oil! Its only a trick to make you believe it is synthetic... typical Castrol style.

Btw, now even dealers here are saying there is no more stock of Jet X coming from Castrol. It is likely that Castrol has discontinued the brand. It was an overpriced, average product anyway...

Unless you can get something like Motul 800 or 510, your best bet would be something like Petronas fully synth or Shell VSX2 (semi synth). However, always make sure to check the manufacturing date. Make sure you check the manufacturing date and NOT the import date. I ordered one Petronas fully synth bottle, and they guy got one that was manufactured in 2005. Needless to say, I didn't buy it. And they did not have any newer stock.

Raccoon - Thanks for the information. how much Petronas gear box oil would costs ( synthetic)?

For Premix, I prefer Yamalube until my new bore/pistons sets in.

Let me know on this. Does Motul have 2t gearbox oil just like 300V 4t 100% synthetic?
