Been using HH 10w30 for my 3 months old (5.5k) ZMA. I buy the oil straight from HH authosized service center and change them myself. Had changed oil 3 times using HH. I changed the first time around 300kms. The other two at 1.5k and 3k respectively. I changed the oil frequently because I was not happy with the gear shift which seems to get hard as the oil grows older. At that point it was hard to tell whether HH oil is good or bad as there is no benchmark for me to compare. So I decided to try something else.
I bought castrol activ 20w40 just for the heck of trying a different grade (40 as oppose to 30). Tried the castrol around 4k up till today i.e 5.5k. My experience is very different from other HH oil users. I prefer the castrol over HH and like the heavy feel of the engine from the heavier oil (though this could be more of imagination). Till now gear change is still smooth. I have already purchased 'Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w40'. But the current one is still going strong so decided to put it on hold and see how long it can perform satisfactorily. Wanted to try Motul 300v but cannot get 40 grade. Only 50. And 50 would be stretching too much for engine that recommends 30.
To be fair I will try the HH 10w30 at some point in the future and see if my smoother experience is due to the engine/gearbox getting smoother due to more mileage. But Power 1 Racing is next

Very likely that your -ve experience was due to the wrong viscosity. Hopefully Motul will import the right grade - 10W30... or at least the 5W30. Please write an email to them guys!!!Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostI found all the synthetic oils to cause hard gear shifting in Karizma. Motul 300v is good for initial 1000 kms, after that the engine starts to growl. Even felt the same with Sprinta Petronas, Valvoline premium. W50 grade is a big NO for karizma. (I used Motul 300v for two times and drained them around 1200kms both the times).
Jonak, read post#1024 and 1027.
Find out the email/ph of the distributor there... you should surely be able to get it.Originally posted by Jonak View PostI was happy with HH oil. But I wanted to experiment as that HH oil the only oil that I have used so far. And changing oil in every 1000km is cumbersome. 300v 5W40 sounds good. I hope it is available in Kolkata.
Why on Earth are you changing the oil every 1,000 km?
It shouldn't be required even for severe usage!!
Dude, I mentioned the best options on the last page. Btw, can you tell me what Yam recommends in the manual?Originally posted by outworldly maniac View Postguys which oil to use an transmission oil in RX 135 4speed ??

Manufacturer specified engine oil should be used and there should not be any problem with specified engine oil. For instance HH prescribes 10W30SJ for all it's bikes with drain period of 6000kms. People buy this b'cos other brands are costlier than HH Engine oil availabe at their svc centers. Every manufacturer should have this kind of system so that there is no confusion among users. Each OEM can tie up with 3 or 4 oil lub companies to make things more competitive. For instance Bajaj-Castrol; Bajaj-Valvoline, Bajaj-Servo; Bajaj-Idimitsu....

They mentioned earlier that the Rs 330 is a promotional price and the price would go up. At that time the cost in Malaysia itself was close to Rs 700 (when currency is converted). They then made it Rs 397 and now it is Rs 447.Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostI paid 400Rs only

i would suggest you to give Mr.Mitra a call at 9830112281. he is a very helpful guy and would be very pleased to answer you. let me add some more, he's getting a box of full synt 2T shipped to my local distrib just because i ( as a customer....) called him and requested. where as (no offence!) the motul guys, clearly wanted me to make a full advance for a complete box, and that too they are not sure on availability.Originally posted by arvindraju View Post^^^ thanks for the update ... any chances of petronas having people dealing there products in south india ? Pertronas sells @ a premium here at banagalore

Thank god i do not need the 50W motul the 15W 50 300V performs poorly in this test but not as bad as the castrol as expected its down way down the List.Even amsoil admits 10W 40 300V motul is great....It comes second(First is Amsoil MCF) and it makes me feel good as i have already placed an order for the 40 Grade motul
.
The article says spending on "expensive" Synthetic oil is not bad at all as it will save your really expensive engine parts........

MOtul is there in Ramapuram, Chennai however, they do not have any stock for 2 strokes.
I do not get Valvoline, Petronas SPrintas 5000 2 T (hear is it very good) or Amsoil.
Jeez, what a mess me into ...
