            • finally took my bike to get serviced

To refresh everyone... I was previously using castrol power1 in my p180 ug3 as it was incorrectly advised to me by service guys... after reading here quickly changed the oil to motul 5100... bike became very smooth again but still on longer rides of say 40mins or more, I would still feel the engine heating up on my leg... was told that my bike maybe running lean... So got it to the service guys today and upon getting it back, they said that the tappet was to tight and thats why it was heating up... haven't taken it for a ride yet for long distance but bike seems to be smoother still... does that sound right to you guys? I don't know much about the mechanics of it... but they said they loosened it up so it shouldn't be a prob anymore... is it correct?

Also on a different note... I will be going home in a few days and the bike will not be used at all for a month. I read i should change the oil before storing the bike for long. Wanted to ask you guys if its necessary to change the oil now before leaving or if I can just leave the old oil because I just changed the oil approximately a month back.

yes they are right, its a tappet issue,if the tappet is tightened engine will heat up.i had the same issue when i had the bike, engine started to produce weird noises, after that,i got it rectified at SC he loosened the tappet and everything turned to normal,i was also using castrol power1 in my 180ug3 ,i was getting a healthy 45-47 mileage,i changed to motul 5100 as 15w40 is not recommended for my bike, the from, the experience with it was AWESOME

                • I have Discover 135 having done 2500 kms. I changed the oil to Petronas 2000 20W40 (made in India, hence 20W40) at around 1700 kms. I have observed in the past few days that the bike sounds loud when I start it in the morning. After riding for about 1 km the sound settles down to low level but somehow it still feels to be a bit louder than earlier. What can be the problem? Should I change the oil?

Yes the SC guy did absolutely right work by loosening tappets now it will give you better acceleration. No problem as such but you will listen a tec-tec sound which is normal.
one month oil is perfect no need to change before going.

                      Sorry for O.T

Ksameer first thing Petronas don't have any 20W40 oil which named 2000 4T it is Petronas 2000 4T 20W50 I suggest you stop playing with engine oil or face a major engine overhauling your bike is only 2500km come on buddy do what it is recommended and in future stay away from fake engine oil.
"Bike sounds loud when I start it in the morning" this is because of using wrong grade oil. Oil pump is stressed by pumping heavy oil which is thick from the recommended oil this is why I guess your bike needs lots of efforts to start in morning ? or all-in-one it may be due to clutch.

Petronas, its Malaysian company and the oil is really hard to get in India and very lil amount of shop keeper heard about it. Even more in the package says its MFG in India. If so the why there have no marketing? Advertisement to promote the product.

All the leading Fully synthetic oils cost around 700-800 INR ( 1 Ltr )
                        And the Petronas 5000 4T 10W40

Actually I have confirmed this with the customer care people at Petronas and they told me that they now make oils in India. They make 20W40 here and import 20W50. This is 100% confirmed. Also, the oil I have got is a genuine one as I got it from a trusted store. So I believe there are no issues with the oil as it is indeed 20W40 API SM VTW JASO-MA2. Somehow I don't think that the problem would be big as this did not happen about a month ago when the cold was not severe which it is now. And this noise reduces after about a Km or two. The oil levels are healthy and oil does not look blackened from window.
