    • I somehow feel that these to bikes (Xtreme and Hunk) are under 100% Utilization of the engine power at speeds of 80+ ( Correct me i i'm wong)

        • Yamalube SemiSynthetic? Or Petronas Fully Synthetic?

My bike's run about 12.5K KMs till date..and I've been using Petronas Fully Synthetic oil in it ever since it was about 5k KMs old, and it has been running fine. Last time when I got my bike serviced(at about 10.5/11k KMs), the MD at Pearl Yamaha warned me that Yamaha's been getting complaints of blown valves due to Petronas 5000T, and that he was informed of the same by the company. So, he suggested me to go for the Semi-Synthetic YamaLube oil instead(it was launched specifically for the R15 according to him).

Also, I noticed my bike's clutch isn't as smooth and positive as in other R15s. But I couldn't understand whether it's cos of my riding style(I redline my bike atleast 90-95% of its riding time) or if it's cos of the engine oil I used..but I can say the difference was very huge.

So, I thought I'll give the YamaLube Semi Synthetic oil a try, and hence changed to the same today. I've a 200KMs ride planned tomo, and hence the change..and my oil was at the end of its life anyways(yes, I keep changing my oil every 2k KMs or so cos of my riding style). And today..just out of curiosity, I drained the old oil into a measurement container and it measured upto about 900ml. I then poured in the SemiSynthetic YamaLube..and I feel my engine is not so free revving at higher RPMs under "no-load" situation now.

I'm yet to do a full review of the oil, and it will happen tomorrow. But, was this step of mine necessary? How far is it correct? Given I still had atleast 900ml of oil left(even after 600KMs of continous speeding on a one day long ride at speeds about 130-120kmph,remaining 1k KMs were under redlining). Do I need to revert back to the Petronas Fully Synthetic oil as soon as possible? Please do consider my entire situation and riding style while suggesting me...

Hope this is not a blanket statement. I understand that there is no one type of oil that suits all engine. Been using CP1-R(FS) for the past 6k+ kms, I'm also aware that CP1-R is not 'actual synthetic', however they are performing better than stock HH oil and castrol mineral oil in my case. Done about 2.5k since I last changed. Still going strong as new. I intent to use 300V(FS), but unable to get my hand on one yet. Yep, they are expensive and kms per rupee, Mineral may come on top. But I believe FS protects and performs better.

BTW its possible that CP1 suits your bike better than Gulf as you mentioned.

Lastly, I've noticed, bikes are fussy as hell unlike cars. it will run smooth one day and harsher the next immediate day and then smooth the next again, even if nothing has been done to change the characteristic. Hell, it happens on the same day as well. I'm slowly beginning to understand a little on the causes of this mood swings. Thats why I like to consider my bike as a cat and my car as a dog.

                    • sorry buddy
but i dont agree with that
actually synthetic oils are good dispersants of sludge
they deposit the sludge to the oil filter much more efficiently and hence they does not get black themselves too soon
also any oil satisfying the api sj and jaso ma standards will pass the minimum required :
                      lubrication tests
                      detergency tests
oxidation and thermal stability tests etc.
also petronas is pao(cheap) based engine oil ,where as motuls 300v is ester(costly) based.
These base fluids are considered as genuine synthetic base fluids.
But some group 4 base fluids like vhvi(yubase) base fluid are not true synthetic but can be sold as fully synthetic label as their performance levels are very close to synthetic oils.(do correct me if m wrong)
The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

                      • I have used both; the CP1(10W30) and the Gulf (10W30).
My experience with CP1 was really good. On Newtown-Rajarhat Highway, my bike touched 100 and I have not noticed it until I looked into the speedo. As it was a new bike, only 1200kms done, I reduced the speed. Yes! very less vibes and super smooth acceleration. But on that day itself I found some weired sound coming out from the engine and I was pretty depressed. Though the SC guy confirmed that the sound was normal, but I found the engine little bit rough and the engine is heating up fast. I believe; less friction=less sound & less heat generation. So, it can be that CP1 is causing more friction in my engine. I drained it after 700kms.
Then I shifted back to Gulf. This oil gave me really smooth engine (less sound) but the acceleration was not smooth like CP1. The engine was producing less heat. I never touched 100 using that oil. Probably I accelerated till 80kmph on the same road. Yes, vibes was there.
Now I am with Patronas 5000. Today I touched 120 (on the speedo, may be wrong) on Rajarhat-Newtown Road and maintained the speed till DLF Stop. I found the engine was not overheated, engine rpm was steady, and the engine sound was normal. But the acceleration was not as good as CP1 but very much close to it. I am not comparing Semi Synthetic/Syn Blend oil with a FS Oil, instead I am telling you all that I am really happy with that oil.

Hay, I felt the same too. I thought that It is my mood which swings and feels the ride smooth or harsh. Because, I can't blame my bike to become smooth, harsh or noisy. I took the changes as my psychological effect. Is my bike only a machine? Sometimes it makes me feel that it has life.
