  • types of synthetics

    Guys,

just wanna share some reviews over synthetic is a bad word in a sense. With engine oil there are two types of synthetics. The main type in this country is a synthetic called Polyalphaoefin which is a petroleum oil that is synthesized, which is then called a synthetic because you have changed the structure. The second type is an ester. These are actually a vegetable synthetic, coming from vegetable fatty acids and alcohol and processed in laboratory conditions. They are true synthetics from natural resources. Thus, there are two types of synthetics, one a petroleum product and the other from vegetables. A synthetic will find a leak A vegetable synthetic has a property we call unctuousness or oiliness.. It is polarized and actually has a negative end chain and iron and steel have a positive end chain. What happens is that the oil is attracted to bare surfaces and is trying to spread to wherever there isn't any oil. Thus if you have a weak gasket, a good synthetic oil will capillary or migrate through a weak gasket.

I cant find any 10w30 grade oil for my cbz xtreme.i can only see 20w40 & 20w50. I live in bangladesh & currently living in an area where 10w30 is impossible. So i have bought gulf pride 4t plus 20w40.plz tell me can i use it?will be there any damage?can i use this grade instead of 10w30?coz in bangladesh i have only found caltex havoline 10w30 grade engine oil which i have used & dont like it.
But caltex is not available right now.so plz tell me about the gulf 20w40 & its compatibility with cbz-x because currently i dont have any other option......
20w40 will not harm your engine. Been using myself for the last one year on my Karizma-R. Infact I prefer 40 grade to 30 as the climate here is hot.

The reason for the switch to FS is, there are no SS oils available here in Sri lanka, only FS in Mobil & Motul. If I could find a good SS, like Motul 5100 15W50, I would definitely go for it. Only Motul 300V is the option as Mobil 4T Racing comes in xxW40 grade..

So guys, I am a little curious coz there are cases of head leaking with motul in pulsars.. The Double Easter in Motul 300V recommends chemically resistant valves but suprisingly valves in Pulsar are not chemically resistant to Easter so it might cause leak! That's what I learnt! So I'm a little skeptical if I use Motul 300V xxW50 in my P135, whether it cause any leaks

Please shed some light on this! Will P135 leak with Motul 300V 15W50??
I strongly appreciate your ideas guys.. Thank you in advance..

Go for it P-135 recommended oil is 20W50 not xxW40 you will never have problem until and unless you you stick to w50 oils Mobil SS is not so bad oil,
weak gasket and piston ring help in leaking and engine killing your bike is new so I don't think Motul SS oil will do any harm to the bike...

            • Veedol 10W 40 on Honda Eterno

              Hi all.
First of all! I would like to thank you all for sharing your knowledge. The information you all share here is very helpful to us.

Currently, I am facing big problem with my scooter. I own Honda Eterno 2004, I have been it riding since last 1 year without any problem with a average of above 65 on Delhi roads, I covered up Haridwar, Rishikesh and several near about places on it, I luv it like a baby. I was quite happy with the performance but was not satisfies by its pickup, so I decided to use Veedol Super swift 10W40 on Eterno. I also asked the shop owner about compatibility and he nodded his head.
Unfortunately, within few hours of service, I am facing following problems with my baby:

Average down from 65 to 25

Problem in Valve. (Kharaida Work done)

              Problem with Coil.

              Giving jerks wihle driving.

              Shuld I change the Oil?

Thanks schadha on behalf of all...
You have Honda Eterno 2004 which I think must covered many KM is't and Veedol Super swift 10W40 is a Semi Synthetic oil, which means for example if you had done 50,000KM's on it then it will have week gasket,Piston ring,Piston and many more which SS oil can kill all the part, never use SS or FS oil on a high mileage vehicle.I guess Eterno recommended oil is 20W40 and you are using 10W40 means less thick oil which will have high rate of flow in engine and Eterno gets Hot very fast,so the moral of the story is to change oil and stick to Mineral oils like Honda,Velvoline,Motul,Servo(nice oil).

                • Today met a guy who poured in 'W90' oil (maybe gearoil) in his Pulsar 220 dts-i in front of me. Actually, I was at the mechanic shop for some personal work and there I met this guy, the mechanic and the guy both said that this will make the engine ultra-smooth and I should also try this, I refused. I told them not to do so, but they did it. And after that I also took the test-ride of that bike and voila that was ultra-smooth. But, I knew they did a mistake, what mistake? only future will tell. Heck!! those IDIOTS must have seen '3 Idiots', and got inspired by 'BABA RANCHHOR DAS CHANCHAD' then thought of inventing a new bike oil.

Don't try bro if you are interested in using it...
                          consequences:
                          1>Heavy oil
                          2>Oil pump will be killed
                          3>Oil will eat Gasket
3>Bike will not revv freely which means,we will feel Bike is very smooth which not its opposite bike will be crying and abusing you and saying why only me...
                          4>Clutch set will be gone.
                          and many more
so all in all main point is number 5

I will keep updating the status of that bike here on this thread for others not to try this out or maybe at the end all of us will be using w90 oil in our motors.
Anyway, I found this link over googling about the consequences of using Gear-oil in Engine:

What will happen If I put Gear Oil instead of engine oil in a generator engine? - Yahoo! Answers

Yamalube aka Motul 5100 SS oil but your bike is only 2500kms old wait till 3500 to 4000kms to use FS oil 300v
