how many kms your bike is old? if lesser than 8 k no to synthetic; above 8 k yesOriginally posted by 111diablo111 View Postthanks for your reply..actually HH recommended grade is 10W30..now i'm gonna change it & want to use semi-synthetic/synthetic oil so which one should i go for?
to be frank in city driving conditions you wont find drastic improvement or change in mileage while using synthetic, but its better than mineral.
but comparing to the cost of synthetic better to stick with mineral.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

my bike is 11.5k kms old & today/tomorrow i'll be going to take it for its 6th service..my main concern for changing engine oil to semi-synthetic/synthetic is to make my bike smoother..mileage isn't main thing as i am getting decent enough from stock setup itself.Originally posted by MSN1 View Posthow many kms your bike is old? if lesser than 8 k no to synthetic; above 8 k yes

Its good if you get the genuine (orginal) one else its waste, and its bit hard to get castrol genuine (orginal) oil, as more duplicates are found in the name of castrol.Originally posted by akatl View Postnow i am using gulf pride 4t 10w30 in my cbz extreme its good but i am going to change to castrol power1 10w30 sl jaso ma2- part synthetic
is this good or not?
is castrol power1 better than gulf?

Gulf is goodSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

1) Motul 300v 4T 10w40. Actual fully synthetic Oil. Very Good. Expensive. Have used for about 4k.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Postmy bike is 11.5k kms old & today/tomorrow i'll be going to take it for its 6th service..my main concern for changing engine oil to semi-synthetic/synthetic is to make my bike smoother..mileage isn't main thing as i am getting decent enough from stock setup itself.
2) Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10w40. This is branded as FS, though it is not. Very good. Expensive. Have used for about 8k.
3) Patronas Sprinta 5000 4T 10w4T. Actual fully synthetic oil. Affordable. Costing almost half of the above two. Currenty using. Already done 2+k. Still as good as new. Not very friendly to gear shift when it gets hot. Excellent for engine, smooth and control heat well.
Reason for switching to Patronas is because it is easy to source and much cheaper that gives almost equal performance as the above two. My bike is Zma-R.

Yes,you can but it is recommended to use FS oil after completing some 7k kms on the bike.Motul 300V is a very good FS oil & will gel well with your R15.AFAIK,Motul oil is same as Yamalube but in a different packing.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Posti want to use fully synthetic oil in my R15 is it adviceable?? i think MOTUL300V FS ?

Dont consider the perfect figure,7k or 8k kms,you are good to go now as you are about to complete 7k kms.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Postnow i'm confused a member in R15 ownership thread told me to wait till 8000km and you are telling me to wait till 7000km i'm at 6700kms what to do? and why should i wait for FS??
Why you have to wait?
Ans.
the actual runing-in process of your
engine will be delayed by SS or FS oil coz, in
simple words, SS or FS oil protects engine parts from wear and tear by forming a thin
layer of oil between two frictional parts. So
the friction will be less and hence if you use
SS or FS oil in a new engine, say, the
"polishing" of the frictioning parts, will delay!
That so called "polishing" of frictioning surfaces is a vital part of engine run-in
especially in engines where run-in's are
recomended by the manufacturer.
Because of the oil layer that form by SS or
FS oil between frictional surfaces, it will reduce frictional force, hence it allows the
motion of parts more freely, therefore engine vibrations and noise will reduce and
smoothness will increase as well!
So we have to let the engine to settle down by using normal mineral oil for about at least 7-8k kms.
Why are you opting for FS oil?Which oil you have used uptill now?Yamaha guys pour in the Yamalube semi-synthetic oil right from the start.I dont think there is any need to go for FS unless & until you are revving the engine truly hard.

yeah they are pouring SS till now and i feel i need FS because my riding is normally above 6K and i love to shift gears at 10K so Ripping is like my habbit so i think i need it after 1000K my gear shift smoothness also goes which means SS looses its strength after 1000k.Originally posted by Drifty View PostDont consider the perfect figure,7k or 8k kms,you are good to go now as you are about to complete 7k kms.

SS oil are meant to last for atleast 3500-4000kms.If you are a regular ripper, then go ahead with the Motul 300V FS,if its available.Originally posted by RhythmRana99 View Postyeah they are pouring SS till now and i feel i need FS because my riding is normally above 6K and i love to shift gears at 10K so Ripping is like my habbit so i think i need it after 1000K my gear shift smoothness also goes which means SS looses its strength after 1000k.
