( Bansal Motors near Jyothi cinema hall , wellington , kolkata ) . So the Splendor NXG uses replaceable pleated paper air-filter like the cbz ? My 2010 Splendor plus uses oiled-foam type , reusable .Throw-off is the single major problem I have faced with my (non -O-ring) chain lubrication up to now . All of those i have tried are thrown off ,some more some less . I suspect you are using the softer white lithium base bearing grease ? I had same problem with it too . So now I am using the dark brown sodium base wheel bearing grease (NLGI3) used by truckers on wheel bearing & axle (not chassis grease) . It's harder with a fibrous look / texture and is very sticky . The combination of this particular grease & EP90 gear oil is keeping my chain maintenance interval ~ 1000+ kms i.e about a month and a half , which I can manage . Still on the lookout for a 3 month+ solution .
Gear Oil 90wt is recommended for chain lubrication by Honda because it penetrates into the rollers where lube is needed most . Best time to lube chain is just after a ride when chain is warm . Then let it sit with the oil overnight . The role of grease is to lock the oil in there , and sit the chain snug on the sprockets . So you don't need a lot of it , just a coat overall .Grease by itself is not a good chain lubricant as it can't penetrate inside the rollers . Unless you melt it in a pan and immerse the chain in the molten grease , which some people actually do
.But all my efforts may be in vain . See what Vishnu'jee writes about it in the GSR150 thread .
