No this one does not have a pump. The one with pump is Rs.3800 as quoted to me.Originally posted by RAK View PostDoes this one have a pump? Few months ago I bought a LS2 Supra for 3K from A.H. Helmets for my cousin and it has a pump.
It did sound a bit wierd to me that the guy from A.H. Helmets was ready to sell the old designs (phobia type) for Rs. 2500 but asked for 3300 for this new design. In this one the air vents have been updated and the rubber at the base of the helmet is a bit wider. Quality may be a notch higher. So i bought it for Rs.3300. Could i have bought it a bit cheper guys?
Coming back to the Pump helmets. I was informed at A.H. that there has been a complaint about the seal bursting. Once the seal bursts the cheek pads become loose so was advised not to go for the pump helmet.
Thx.

Hi friends, Please suggest me a helmet between Rs1000 to 3000; which doesn't have wind noise. Most of my runs are in highway and the wind noise is intolerable
. Currently I'm using a pair of ear plugs to get rid of wind noise. It helps but it's an inconvenience.
Thanks in advance.Love the ride, not the destination

There are lots of helmets in that range, LS2, VEGA, CROSS, STUDDS Pretty much every helmet has some amount of wind noise to it. It's not feasible to remove the wind noise from a helmet completely, even the best ones out there have wind noise.Originally posted by rixBhp View PostHi friends, Please suggest me a helmet between Rs1000 to 3000; which doesn't have wind noise. Go for STUDDS or Cross helmets, they are cheap and provide adequate protection.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

You are right. After going through a few pages in the thread studds rhyno seems be a good buy.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThere are lots of helmets in that range, LS2, VEGA, CROSS, STUDDS Pretty much every helmet has some amount of wind noise to it. Thread Approved and MergedAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Full face any day.Originally posted by fod12 View PostI own pulsar 220F black red color. I want to buy a new helmet and i need help
Please drop some suggestion on openface/ fullface and brand.
Open face helmets may look cool, but they simply don't do what a helmet should do - protect your head/face!
There are a few Vega Helmets with the flip-able chin system, i.e; you can pull it up to convert from a full face to open face, but in case of a fall, the removable part gives away. [Source - personal experience.]
Go for good full face ones. You may opt for Studds/Steelbird (SB 29 is a VFM)/LS2/SOL.
SOL is a very good helmet. Costs a bit more, but you won't regret.
LS2 and Steelbird are good too. I've a Steelbird SB 29 model. It offers excellent protection for the full face.
[Helmets mentioned above range from 1500 INR to 5500 INR]
Enjoy shopping.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

My helmets
Got two new lids in the last 5 months - a LS2 red dragon and a Studds Rhyno.
Got the LS2 Red dragon for 2400 bucks from Pioneer Scooters, Chennai.
Initially got it with the tinted visor and changed it to clear visor three weeks back. Got the clear visor at Pioneer scooters for 450 bucks.
Here is my review of the LS@ red dragon
Fit and finish - I will rate it 3/5. It is ok, a lot of room for improvement
Graphics - 4/5 I personally like it's looks
Visor - 3/5 The tinted visor does it's job well in the daytime and looks good. But night time it is near to impossible to ride with visor closed. And if you open visor and ride, the ride will not be comfortable beyond 80 km/hr.
Changed the visor to clear visor, though it's a downside look-wise but it does perform it's job to perfection. Night riding turned into pleasure now
especially keeping the wasps out during the evening time.
Wind noise - 3/5 It is very minimal till 80 km/hr, ok till 110 Km/hr and beyond 110ish it gets slightly irritating as wind-noise gets high and the wind that enters below your neck gives an unstable feeling (read as if helmet is being pushed up away from head). This is reduced vastly or vanished when you wear a balaclava and the ride becomes very comfortable. Usually I get slight headaches when I ride in hot sun but with balaclava I am pretty much relieved.
I wear a L size, and would have loved to have thicker cheek pads and some top of the head cushion lining ( Right now all it has is a thin layer of cushion and we can easily see thermocol beneath it)
Overall rating - 3.5/5
Frankly speaking had i known of SOL helmets when I bought this, I would have double considered my choice but I am more than happy with what I got and believe it serves it purpose.
Studds Rhyno:

Got it last week for 1090 bucks from Pioneer Scooters, friendly people and pretty good price. Looks VFM, nice cheek paddings and a solid look. Still got to test it extensively but first look I am impressed with it for the price it comes.Last edited by Chandru Raj; 07-05-2012, 01:36 PM.CBR250R |

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.
It was not that far on the map.

How's SOL SS-1 (Dual sport lid) ?
Guys,
Any reviews on the SOL dual sport lid ?
I'm planning to get a lid for myself. I'm thinking to get one b/w SOL SF-1 / 68 S II / SS 1(dual sport). Gone through previous pages, sf1 and 68 S II seem to have great VFM. Wanted to check hows the dual sport? pros and cons. Any review would be very helpful.
P.S. - I would be doing office (city) ride on week days and highway ride to my home on week ends. And my budget is 5k.
Thanks.
